Q: Would these clips have a strong enough hold to hold carpet while its being pressure washed? And while its drying?

I seriously doubt it. I use them to hang my quilt layers in place to use temporary adhesive. I clip them to a table and have issues with them popping off. Good luck!!

Q: Would this work on the end of an ironing board to keep iron cord out of the way? I can't seem to find any product that gets good reviews. Thank you.

I think they would---they have large openings large enough for ironing board. I use them to clip up my back porch curtains when we are expecting a rain/wind storm---love them

Q: How wide are they fully opened? Could they hold a stack of receipts?

I do not know how wide they open because I got rid of mine. I purchased them to hold my quilt in place on a table so I could spray baste it. They did not grip tight enough to stay in place.
