which is a great deal for all of us
‘Cross Kill’ by James PattersonCross Kill by James Patterson is a Bookshot book, meaning it is a short book (about 100-150 pages) and under $5, which is a great deal for all of us. It is action packed from page one to the end and had my attention throughout the book. Like all of Patterson’s book, it is spellbinding, suspenseful and thrilling.Alex Cross is a homicide detective who uses his PhD in psychology to get into the minds of killers. From the first of the series, Along Came a Spider, to Cross Kill, Gary Sonji is his main adversary. Sonji is introduced in Along Came a Spider as a psychotic kidnapper/murderer and continues to demonstrate his diabolical mind throughout the series. Alex thinks his troubles are over when he sees Sonji die.Cross Kill opens with a shootout between Alex and his partner, Sampson and a gunman that Alex thinks is Sonji. He starts seeing him everywhere, but nobody will believe him. After all, Sonji is dead. Or is he?Once again, Patterson has written a bestseller. I give it five stars.

Great story, but...
I love the Alex Cross series so I will read anything Alex Cross. This was a great story as usual...I know the concept of Bookshots is to provide a short, fast story without the excess fluff, but I didn't feel that I was missing anything as this series is usually fast paced anyway and once I start I can't put it down. I only gave 4 stars as the end of the piece leaves the story hanging, it's like it's to be continued in some future book or installment. So I'm hoping that an ending will be provided either in the book that's due out in November or a future Bookshot. I was expecting this to have a beginning, middle and end...I wasn't expecting it to leave me in mid air. After reading the last page, the last few pages were dedicated to promoting another series "The Women's Murder Club" with an excerpt from that piece. I am now looking forward to hopefully another Bookshot with a continuation of the story. I really prefer to read an entire book and can't wait for the Alex Cross book due out in November.

Loved it! Great addition to series :)
Detective Alex Cross was working in the soup kitchen alongside his partner Detective John Sampson when they heard gunshots from behind them in the kitchen. Their immediate response saw two injured kitchen workers, one seriously – but the shock Cross felt when the culprit opened fire once again, downing Sampson and hitting Cross in the chest, was immense. Because the person shooting at them was Gary Soneji who had been dead for ten years!Heartbroken at Sampson’s injuries, nonetheless Cross was determined to find Soneji – or whoever it was. The search was on and the hunt was wide. His police team were sceptical but respected Cross’ knowledge – but the words of a killer, echoing from a long ago past - I’m coming for you – even from the grave if I have to… had Cross on edge. What was happening? The situation was escalating and Cross felt he was wading in sludge…Cross Kill by James Patterson is #23.5 in the Detective Alex Cross series, and one of the author’s new BookShots novellas. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can’t wait for the next in the series; Cross the Line, out later this year. Mystery, intrigue and heartbreak fill this novella – I couldn’t put it down. A great addition to the series which I recommend highly.

Book Shots not up to par
I have read all previous Alex Cross books and delighted in them. I had read several reviews of people who did not appreciate the Book Shots. I hesitated to order this for my Kindle because of the reviews. I finally gave it a try andI hate to say it, but I must agree with those who dislike the Book Shots. Usually the story is already fast paced, but this jumps from one thing to the next with little to no explanation. There are few details and the plot was pretty predictable. It could have been a really great read with the story line. However, Alex is definitely not on top of his game in this book. Plus it ends abruptly. I will not order or read any other Book Shots. I think it is just a way to sell more books and make more money for Mr. Patterson. His previous books were awesome, but this is definitely not up to par. I hope he rethinks his future books formats!!

James Patterson Mystery
My very FAVORITE James Patterson books are the Alex Cross series. Have read every one of the books in this series and have pre-ordered his next book in this series. Love the style in which this author writes and have never been disappointed in any of the Cross series books!!!

So good...too short
First of all, I am still deciding if I like this book shots concept. I feel like James Patterson books read fast anyways, so is there really a need to cut them in half? I finished this book in a day, while I was at work, and I would call myself a slow reader. I could not put it down!! Because of the length, I almost felt like the story was rushed, but it was still enjoyable. So curious if James Patterson is going to make a regular length continuation, or another book shots, but either way I am dying to know what happens next!!

A Deadly Step Back In Time
A former antagonist, dead for 10 years somehow returns to stalk & haunt Alex Cross. The first encounter happens in a church soup kitchen where John Sampson, Cross's long time friend and partner is severely wounded. Cross's pursuit of the shooter makes him forget training protocols which places him in a most unfamiliar position and in turn, a very unexpected ending. This BookShots is a quick read and has some intense sub plots, but lacks the depth and intrigue that Cross's full length novels are able to develop. I would recommend BookShots for the reader who needs a quick start and then a sprint to the finish line.........and then move on without much reflection.

Cross Kill James Patterson
2nd in the books series of Detective Alex Cross. This is compelling reading from the very first page. Each and every step holds twists and turns with many 'red herrings' that you simply fall for. The end is a brilliant revelation. A must read for those who simply love a gripping Murder Mystery that has everything and anything imaginable. From start to finish you'll find yourself alongside and in the story and you won't want to put it down until you've solved the crimes.

Love Alex Cross
I love Alex Cross - the only James Patterson character (books) I enjoy.I am not sure how I feel about these "bookshots" - kind of a teaser in between books. Part of me feels as though it is a bit of a sleazy way to make even more $$$ as if Patterson needs it! Regardless, the book and story itself are great.Cross is back and this time he comes face to face with an old enemy (or maybe not?) - lots happens in this story and Sampson features prominently (which is something that hasn't happened in a the last few books). In 166 pages, its hard to tell a detailed story - and Patterson is not known for his detailed chapters (thank god!). The book ends on a cliffhanger - letting us salivate for the "actual" book in November 2016.This story is good, it features Alex Cross (instead of the whole clan, which is what happened with the last book) and is about police work. Its very short and won't give much in the way of information, but it is a good read.
