## Description

The TREX 6315 Strap-On Heel Traction Cleat are ice grips for boots and shoes with rugged steel plates that turn boot heels into ice picks, leaving the mid-foot free for vehicle operation. Ice traction cleats help save money while preventing slip and fall injuries. These ice grips for boots provide the best in class all-direction traction on ice and snow during the winter months while leaving the toe and mid-foot free. Versatile traction cleat is available in multiple sizes and fits on the heel of any boot or shoe. Durable webbing with hook & loop strap provides a secure fit and stability for winter work or recreation. Material is lightweight and is small enough to be stored in a pocket or pack when not being worn. Rear reflective accents help make wearers more visible in dark environments. SIZING TREX Ice Traction should fit snugly on your boot or shoe. Use your shoe/boot size to determine the approximate size.

Review: Easy to take on/off. Good protection from slipping outside. Can ALSO wear safely INDOORS - These are great cleats, if your main concern is "easy to put on and take off". Unlike other rubber types, the velcro straps of these cleats make it very easy to take on and off without fighting. They do provide good "heel" or maybe "arch" traction. I like them better than the Yaktrax Diamond Grip I also tried (of course, here on desertcart!). The Diamond Grip provides better total protection from slipping OUTDOORS. But you can NOT wear the Yaktrax Diamond even briefly INDOORS on tile or stone floors (has ZERO GRIP on smooth tiles indoors--you will find yourself ICE-SKATING on the tile as soon as you step indoors, and likely crash and fall). By contrast, these ERGODYNE TREX allow your FRONT of your shoe to grip the floor indoor (the cleat is just on the arch or rear). Therefore, you CAN walk for brief periods (as in a grocery store etc) with THESE cleats on (without removing) safely. So, these Ergodyne Trex are my favorite cleats for so many reasons.
Review: Alaska Buyer - After reading some reviews, I can see why these aren't for everyone. But for me they are PERFECT. I live in Alaska. I'm getting older, and try to be careful on icy surfaces. I bought my first pair in 2015, and almost five years later am still happy with them. I've worn almost every type of cleat made. Some, with rubber, slip off too easily. Some with coils catch and snag on surfaces. Plus, with any full cleat, you have to be able to remove them to walk indoors. Then you have to put them back on to go out. When you're running into a store for a couple of items, this is a major pain. With these, you can "tiptoe" inside that store to grab your coffee, pay for gas, etc. I now own three sets. One set is dedicated to my Sorel winter boots, but I bought two ankle boots with a flat(ish) sole for the others. If you use these with shoes, you won't want much of a heel on them, and I found that the higher front used with ankle boots let these secure great. If you're going to be on foot in deep snow, these might not be for you, although I guarantee you will NEVER lose them mid-hike like I have with some of the stupid rubber cleats. If you're using them to travel safely on slick or icy surfaces, running errands, etc. You'll be happy, especially when paired with either boots or flatter soled footwear. So how am I using them? I am a teacher, and my teaching area is a portable building (the farthest one from the main building, of course) and I'm required to escort my students to and from the main building. That means I'm out in every kind of weather (last week that meant -22 and 50 mph winds), at least ten times a day. I can leave these on my footwear all day long, and do. And will....until there's no ice to slip on between hither (main school building) and yon (my portable). Pros: -half sole provides traction and is less limiting for going between indoors and outdoors -will never get lost mid-hike in some drift Cons: -work better with boots than shoes (in my opinion) -half-cleat means you have to be mindful of how you walk. If you're a heel-down walker, you'll be fine. Don't know anyone who tippy-toes in snow, anyway, but someone might.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Terrific for icy surfaces - ok for snowy pavements
*by A***J on 14 January 2026*

took these to Noway - Excellent on icy surfaces. OK for snowy pavements as they tend to collect and and compact the snow into icy chunks. You can knock this off but it can be a mildly annoying. Very easy to take off and put back on. I did need to modify the elastic strap at the back by sewing in a small tuck so that they fitted the back of my shoe a bit better. Perhaps this is a lady boot (narrower back) thing. Easy to do - just check they don't slip on the boot before you pack them.
