I have been buying makita interlocking cases for a few years now. is this roll board compatible? will the makita case lock down on this? thanks.

I don’t think it is compatible for interlock but it does have slots for straps to keep it in place.

what straps do you use? Does Festool or Tanos make any

I do not use straps with the roll board. The sustainers are stable on the board and are rolled around my wood shop regularly. Each end has a location that could be used as a strap. I am not aware of a Festool strap for use with the Roll Board. I generally have 6 to 10 Systainers on the cart.

Will a sortainer fit onto this cart? i have a sortainer sys 3-sort/12 (#491986).

Maybe, Systainers are all made by, or licensed from Tanos. There are two main styles - the classic style and the TLoc. The TLocs can stack on top of the classics, but not vice-verse. Several vendors, most notably Festool, but also Metabo, Fein, Makita, Veritas, and Mirka either use or offer as an option Systainers for their tool storage.

Can the "old" style Festool boxes attach to this cart?

My "boxes" are about a decade old, and fit; from the Festool website, indications are all generations of Festool "Systainers" (boxes) should fit. It's a great cart, and best of all, fits the new, wider Systainers, which make a good "base" box for a stack of Systainers on the cart.
