Because I had difficulty with the stand, the manufacturer contacted me with a few options and graciously refunded me the purchase price and allowed me to keep the stand. I chose to give the stand a higher rating, because it is very solid and I was able to find a simple solution to the flaw.The stand is easy to fill with sand and/or water, which creates quite a bit of stability. There are other metal 5 star stands for sale that have issues with splitting in half: this will not happen with this stand. The problem is the manner in which the the umbrella pole is secured in the stand: the fastener tightens, then slips, never achieving a fully tightened situation. So, the umbrella pole is not secure in the stand and will spin, should a strong wind come. I was able to fix this by slipping a piece of thin material in between the fastener and pole.

This base is sturdy and nice looking. The opening for the sand and water is on the bottom. There should have been a nice plug on the top, would have been much better. However, customer service addressed my concern about this and was the most helpful, without delay, they resolved the the problem. Best customer service ever.

I dislike nothing about these two items from BLUU. They are well made, the weighted umbrella base comes with different clamp down rings to allow for different diameter umbrella tubes, this is very handy,if you can’t clamp the tube down the wind is going to blow it out of the base no matter how much weight is in there. I will recommend Bluu’s product to others.

I was hoping to use this to replace a metal stand I was using for a free-standing umbrella. Some of the product images show this being used with a free-standing umbrella, rather than one that goes through the center of a table. The stand was easy to fill with sand, and has adequate weight, but the means of securing the umbrella to the stand is a poor design. Under windy conditions, the collet can unscrew from the base, leaving the umbrella crooked and unsecure in the base. Attached is a photo of what is meant to form the 'thread' to secure the collet down. You can see three thread-like protrusions on the pipe that are meant to allow you to screw on the collet. I could not even get it to tighten down.What a waste of money this product was... I would return it to Amazon, but I don't want to mess with getting all the sand out, so I may just come up with my own method to hold the umbrella that actually works...UPDATE: I wanted to let everyone know that this company reached out to me out of the BLUU (couldn't resist) and was concerned that I had a poor experience with the product. They provided two different options to make it right. They did not request that I modify my review or rating. Nevertheless, I have updated my rating to 3 stars because of the excellent customer service they provided. I hope they continue to refine their product such that it will work well in free-standing mode under windy conditions.

Base received was supposed to come with three different size post inserts (compression rings), for different size posts. The compression rings received with the base were 1-1/4", 1-5/16", and 1-3/8" none of which fit Bluu umbrella post 1-1/2". Customer service does not seem to understand the concept of size. Recommend buying any other base if you choose a Bluu Umbrella, but not the Bluu base.UPDATE 2/8/2022: Took a few days, but BLUU did send the correct 1-1/2" compression ring. Up graded to 4 stars, would have been 5 stars if correct part had been sent with the original base.

Really amazing quality at a very affordable price! This umbrella stand matches the BLUU umbrellas perfectly. I would definitely buy from BLUU again. You can tell they really take pride in what they do - really quality products!

The plastic "o-ring" and plastic coupling do not secure umbrella/pole; gust of wind could cause umbrella to fly out of base. How many times will it take for me to tighten/untighten you plastic coupling before it cracks or the o-ring snaps? I thought that I was purchasing a base that would securely hold my umbrella so as not to injure anyone. Guess I was wrong. I should have realized something was amiss when I opened the box and saw the “Mickey Mouse” assembly instructions.

This base is super easy to use, it comes empty and you can fill it with water, sand, or both for the best results! It kept our umbrella in place and looks great too. The umbrella does seem to spin around a bit on super windy days, but it comes with a few ring inserts depending on the size of your umbrella so finding the right one is key when mounting. Would definitely buy again!
