ACDelco I-7002 15 Amp Battery Charger with Clamps

I paid $30 for this just a few weeks ago. I found it hard NOT to at least TRY it. Yes, it is TOTALLY automatic except that you can select the MAX charging amp level. Lots of levels; that's nice. The problem is that you have NO IDEA what it is doing.I don't trust it, so I watch it and my batteries like a hawk. I monitor how many AC side amps it is drawing so I can guess at how many amps it is throwing at the batteries at any given point in time. I use a Kill A Watt meter for that. I watch the DC side by sticking a volt meter right on the batteries. With these two bits of information, I can kind of tell what it is doing. The volts go up and the amps tail off as the batteries near full charge. That's good and normal. When it reaches FUL, it DOES go into a "maintenance" mode. At times at least, the voltage can be quite high (e.g. 15.5v) while the amps are low. Maybe it is in the de-sulphation mode. Who knows.My only wish would be for a manual that describes what the charger is actually doing during the various "stages" and an indication on the display that specifies the current stage.I'm happy with the thing because it seems sturdy and well made AND it gave me a good amp bang for the buck.I will use this unit to recharge after a significant discharge and continue to float my batteries with the NOCO G3500 which I trust.

This by far is the best battery charger that i have ever used ! You have different charging rates . An error chart if there is something wrong ie. cables on wrong posts . Also a full battery message when optimum charge is in battery.

Great little smart charger just a tad pricey

Awesome smart charger, shuts off when battery is full. Tell you what’s up with the battery as soon as you hook up. I bought 3 of these for my brother and dad.
