Solid Bang-for-Your-Buck Option
[Please note these tiles are for acoustic TREATMENT, not SOUNDPROOFING. They helped reduce the reverb in my room, though I can definitely still hear outside noises from the windows. I bought these specifically for the treatment and not for soundproofing since the latter requires a far more intensive process than just slapping up tiles on a wall]9 of the 12 tiles I received were perfectly fine after tossing them into the dryer for 10-20 minutes on the lowest heat setting. The other 3 I had to soak in water for a few minutes, squeeze the water out, and then toss again into the dryer. Turned out great!Command strips work perfectly fine (I put two on the top left and top right when hanging the tiles up on the wall) as long as you press on the strips for a solid 15-30 seconds.-0.5 stars because of the chemical smell they gave off initially. It has been several days and they're much better now, though you can still get a sniff of it if you put your nose directly onto the tile. Otherwise, it's a great value product!

Great Quality if you Listen to the other Reviews!
Summary:Ok, so I bought the 12 pack and lined the wall, 2 rows of 6 just behind my monitors in my Twitch studio. And let me say that WOW what a difference these make. My voice is amplified inside the room, but with the door closed and my family standing on the other side of the wall they say they can barely hear my voice or my "clicky" mechanical keyboard. Inside the studio I hear myself much more clearly and the sound my mic is picking up is already better!Unpacking:So, what about making them expand? Well, while leaving them out will probably do the job, the soak-wring-dryer method works best. I did a control with a few panels left out and the rest i did this method of wetting, wringing them out, and throwing them in the dryer on medium heat for 1 hour. When held side by side, the ones I just left out on the counter were 1/4 inch shorter in depth than the ones i did the cycle with. The second you wet these things, the foam fully expands, throwing them in the dryer is just to get them dry again.Installation:I installed these with Scotch indoor double sided mounting tape. I find this tape to be very forgiving on your wall's paint if you use your thumb and roll it up off the wall like a carpet. It leaves nothing behind and when it does, just rub the remnants with your thumb and they will flake off. However, if you try to reposition a panel, expect it to tear off some foam, so be gentle.Final Thoughts:All in all I highly recommend these. I did a lot of shopping on amazon and these are the best ones on the site. They are consistent, well made, no miss-cuts and I will be ordering another 24 of them to finish wrapping around my entire area to catch all the reverb. Couldn't be happier for 20 bucks.

Reasonably Priced, Functional, & Durable
The foam is durable and I can hear the difference with only 12 panels, which I installed on a wall behind a drum set in a small 140 sq ft music room. I ordered two more packages (12 panels each) with an aim to control the sound even more. I attached it using a staple gun, which causes the foam to distort around the point of the staple's entry (see photo). I don't mind this but if you want your foam to look even, you'll probably consider using some type of adhesive. Lastly, the foam panels give off a chemical odor but subsides after a few days. I would suggest opening it and setting it ouside for a few hours or days before installing (give it time to air out) if you are sensitve to chemical odors.

the product is good not ready for use out of the box, buy these from another vendor
The soundproofing of these is as advertised, they are comparable to similar products from other companies. What's not comparable is that the the product is not ready for use out of the box, it requires effort, time (and wastes water) just to use it.I'll admit its weirdly satisfying to squish these with water and watch them take shape over the next day as they dry, but if you buy more than one pack it won't be worth it. I needed 6 packs of them and didn't have time or space to do the whole soak/dry routine all in one sitting. So now my project sits unfinished. BTW, the panels I didn't still haven't taken full shape even with a whole week of them being in the open air.If your project is time sensitive or you don't have time or water to waste recommend similar product from another vendor.

Good price for simple product
I use these to reduce echo around my mic setup on my computer. It works really well, but that's really to be expected because it's just foam--it's not some crazy space age material or something. If you're looking for soundproofing, this is not it, but that's not what it's designed to be, either. It works great for echo reduction. One complaint is how much effort it took to get these to expand to their 2-in height. They're packed really tight, and to get them to expand I had to vigorously massage them underwater in the sink for a couple minutes each. Then I squeezed (I don't think wringing them would be a good idea) them out and left them out to dry for a day. If you work them enough in the water, they will grow to their full height and all the ridges will be even.I used a couple command strips each to attach them to the ceiling. If you align the command strips with the ridges the foam flexes downward a little less than if you don't.

Terrible Sound Proofing
It doesn't expand well even when using the expanding methods that they provide. This leads to squares that don't expand correctly leading to different sizes when installing. Some of the squares came damaged as the ridges didn't expand or the foam was deformed. The foam has no density or affect that I can notice even after installing 36 squares. Also buying the adhesive mounting squares that they recommend are terrible. You are better if with 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. You can get it cheaper at a local hardware store cheaper then Amazon.

True to measurements. Decompression was easy. Foam fell off after 24 hours.
The product:Opening the product has a strong chemical smell that lasted 24-48 hours. It’s not as bad as I saw on the other comments. And once it’s been aired out, the smell faints. After 24 hours, laid out on the floor open and untouched, the width of the product grew true to its size and the foams puffed up.The double sided adhesive wasn’t strong enough to hold the foam on the walls and after 24 hours they fell one by one.The sound effect:This is a small, almost cube shaped room that has sharp echoes and that fine ringing sound from the corners. After installation (together with bass traps at the corner of the room) the room had an improved flat sound, less reverb and echo. Not the best but I am satisfied with the quality for now.The foam panels itself is satisfactory. I’m rating the 5 stars for that. However there needs to be a stronger adhesive for the foam.
