Medeco 11R503-19-1 Maxum Deadbolt, Single Cylinder, Satin Nickel Finish, 2-3/8" Backset, 1" Faceplate

This is a VERY SOLID lock! Everything about it is heavy-duty, including the keys. The deadbolt bar is made entirely of cut-proof hardened steel, not just a small steel insert in a softer bar. It's drill-proof, both places where drilling occurs, in the key slot and the mounting screws. It has a rotating collar so the lock can't be twisted and broken with a pipe wrench. It can't be bump-keyed either, at least not by your average criminal. The few who (allegedly) may be able to bump-key this lock won't be looking to steal my TV. They will be trying higher value targets. I feel VERY secure with this lock. Anyone who sees this lock is a Medeco will move on to another target. Installation was not difficult. Keeping the ball bearings in the screw holes while holding the lock on the door was challenging though lol. It's really sturdy & solid lock - I believe if you are looking at Medeco you know all the benefits. Here are downsides:1. Read carefully lock dimensions & what door it would fit - locks are not adjustable2. Plan to spend $14+ for additional keys (but it's also a good one - you would ne able to duplicate keys without a Medeco card)3. If install an enforced break-plate be aware of your door frame restrictions (if constructed after 2010 no need to worry)4. Plan to have a spare key with someone who you trust in a case you lost keys - otherwise you could be in surprise for $250+ charge for drilling - solid still with hardened steel inserts - you will need Dremel grinder.Unless you are willing to go into $300+ category Medeco will be a choice.

One word describes this deadbolt, STOUT! Caution, don't drop it on your toe! Installation was straightforward, although the jam side plates were a little to thick for me but I made it work. The in-box instructions are not very clear on what all the parts are for but they do provide a good installation video, watch it before you order as they come in two sizes. A bit on the spendy side compared to chain store deadbolts but this one is 10X better & has some built in features worth researching. I installed it & a new motion-sensor light on a back door & feel much more secure with this solid deadbolt.

This is a nicely designed and fabricated deadbolt and is the second one I have installed as I switch over the entire property. Installs just like any other deadbolt and replacement of another deadbolt requires no modifications to the door or jamb. The locks that are typically sold by the big box stores are a sad joke compared to this lockset. Be aware that spare keys cost about $30 each and take 3-4 weeks for arrival from the time of order. You will need to visit a locksmith and show your ID, and the ID card supplied with the deadbolt to order replacement keys.

Don't buy it if you want extra keys, have spent hours on the phone looking for 2 extra keys, one guy wants $54. Yes that's fifty four dollars for two keys.

It's a good lock. It only comes with two keys and so far its been a nightmare trying to get more keys ordered even with the medeco card. I wanted to buy a second lock keyed the same way but that seems impossible. Unless Medeco contacts me with some options I am going to buy a Mul T Lock to fix my problem. two stars because customer service is horrible. Otherwise it's a 4 star lock. Good luck!

High quality product, heavy-duty, well made. Easy to use and lock. If you've had minor experience installing locks this one is moderately easy to install. If no installation experience there's good videos to watch. This company has been fabulous to work with for my order.
