Decent vacuum great price
I really like this vacuum for an everyday simple clean. I turn it on when I go to work and when I come home, the dust, dirt and dog hair is kept to a minimum. Once a week I vacuum the carpets with our stand up vacuum because the iLife doesn’t clean perfectly and does not pull much up from the rugs. Being cheaper than a roomba, it was a decent purchase. We have owned the iLife for about three years now. And I would say these are the pros and cons-Pros-Is much cheaper than the roombaCleans hardwood and tile greatSuperficially cleans rugs and carpetsHandles dog hair fairly well (short hair labs)Great for simple cleaningConsThe battery life is a little over a year. I had to find a new battery which cost about $35 and took over a month to get here. That was last January. So far the new battery has held up ok.The bumper on the front is beginning to fall apart- again, it is three years oldDoes not pick up larger pieces on the floor such as cereal pebbles etcHas a hard time sucking up around the carpets.Over all it is a great little vacuum. It was our first robot vacuum and I do not regret the purchase. However, with it being three years old, I am thinking about buying a new vacuum and I would say that if you have the money to splurge on a roomba, I would do that. If you want to stick to a lower budget, this is a great option.

A real trooper. Excellent bang for your buck.
Sure, it will choke on loose items like frilly area rugs, shoe laces and sometimes get stuck in dumb places, but with some clean up and attention to helping her out, she will really shine. I have blocked off areas where she can get stuck and picked up loose items.I have had her for 4 years and she’s a bit scratched up from low clearance furniture and such, but she still cleans for 2+ hours before needing a recharge. I have a home with 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 kids and this thing REALLY helps.* EditBE SURE to take the brushes and front wheel out every couple of months to get all the hair and debris out. People complaining that the robot didn’t last probably didn’t maintain it properly!

The best for hardwood floors
Hawve two vacuums for more than 3 years and LOVE them!!! We have one for upstairs and one for downstairs so I can run both at the same time without waiting for it to recharge. Thought they were both broke and finally needed to buy new ones but their fast customer service line told me exactly the easy replacement parts needed to fix both- a simple battery for one and set of new wheels with wheel motor for the other. $60 total to fix both 3+ year old vacuums easily myself. The number was hard to find - here it is (800)631-9676.

Not worth the money
This is a very late review on this product but I just got done giving this thing another try after throwing it in the shed for a few years for being next to useless. Now my issues with this vacuum are not going to be unique to this brand or model but in the general category of what I will label as budget robo vacs. Thise are things I have learned since owning this vacuum that buyers should be aware of.If the vacuum cannot grid out a space and vacuum most of the area then dont buy it. All the ones I have seen that can do this are 3-4x as much. Maybe technology has changed since I last researched though. If you dont want to spend time vacuum proofing your house and making sure it cant get stuck under a sofa or run over a loose speaker wire then dont buy this or any other robo vac.I can watch this thing clean the same 10' square space for 30 minutes straight. Going back and forth endlessly. Doesn't matter what setting I choose or anything. it just goes back and forth. Maybe mine is faulty or broken. Im not sure.It does a great job as sensing and going around table and chair legs. That is fun to watch when it actually finds one. The edge finder setting worked well at times but it would also seem to lose its way and just start roaming at times. I only ever saw it successfully return to the charging dock once even with an ample amount of space all around it.Overall this vacuum serves very little purpose and you may as well save yourself the trouble and money and just take the 10 minutes to vacuum yourself.

We LOVE Ours!!!
This thing is the best! We bought one, loved it so much we bought them for our kids. It does a great job, getting into places we can't with our big one. It's not for deep cleaning, but I rated it highly anyway because it does remove surface dirt and debris thoroughly. Our friends recommemded it. They bought them for their kids, too. They did have a small problem with theirs after about two years. The company replaced it before my friends even sent theirs back!! What conpany does that?! Impressive! Anyway, I would never be without ours. BTW everyone nanes theurs. Ours is Robby. 🤩 Also, be sure to pull out tge lead wheel and the brushes to clean every so often. There is a youtube video that shows how to do this, but it is simple.

I thought it would last longer.
I bought this vac back in March 2017. I absolutely love it and ran it just about every day because I have two dogs. It picked up great and would run for over 2 hours. It now just goes in circles. While the motor runs fine, the brain of the vac is confused. It shuts off then starts back up only to run in circles before shutting down again.I really thought that this vac would last longer than just over two years. It was up kept and cleaned everyday, so it actually looks almost new, except the brain!I'm not sure how long the normal life should be on other brands of robo vacs, but I did expect this one to last longer than it did, that's the reason for the 2 stars.

Constantly gets stuck. You cannot leave it to clean itself - defeats the purpose
The whole point of getting this is being able to leave it to clean by itself, but it constantly gets stuck under everything - the edge of the fridge, under a credenza, under a chair. It pushes enough to wedge itself underneath something and then it gets stuck there. I have to unlodge it 4 or 5 times every time I set it to go.Also - if anyone in your house has long hair - forget it. It will get the hair lodged around the front twirlers or in the suction part and just stop running. It does clean up, but you will definitely save yourself frustration by just sweeping up yourself than having to get up every 10 minutes to pull it out from under something or to pull wires out from under the bottom.

We got this on sale for $200 after seeing good reviews. We have a cat in the house and don't always get the time to vacuum as often as we'd like, so we thought it would help out even if it didn't replace a vacuum cleaner. We've now had it running for over a month. It has been surprisingly effective! We have it set to start cleaning at 4 am, and by the time I come downstairs at 6 it is charging. I empty out the filter every morning and it never fails to be full of cat hair, dust and cheerios (we have a baby as well). In fact, it always picks up so much cat hair that I'm disturbed - how much can one cat shed? How bad was our house before this? I will definitely keep using it.It is both smart and dumb at the same time. It's able to get to almost every nook and cranny of our house, but it's not methodical at all. It simply zips around randomly until it hits something, then makes a small course adjustment and keeps going. This lets it get under couches and chair legs surprisingly well, although it also means it goes over the same spots repeatedly. It takes 2 hours to cover the 800 square feet of our ground floor, although that's divided into four rooms with furniture in each. It can handle walls, but not corners - there's usually a small dust pile in the corners of rooms that we need to sweep up ourselves. It knows not to go down stairs and is surprisingly well able to climb (we have some plush mats for the baby that it can roll up), but it's not perfect. Three times in the last month we've had to rescue it: it's ended up trapped under our shoe rack twice and got trapped under the couch once when it pushed the mat in front of the edge. When this happens, it tries for a little while, then gives up, beeps to let you know, and stops. We generally just realize it's missing and look for it when this happens.Bonus review: how do pets handle the vacuum? On day one, our cat freaked out. She stared at the robot, backing away from it and running whenever it changed direction and apparently chased her. This continued on day two, with the addition of her pawing at the robot at its charging station. This eventually pushed the robot off its charger, causing it to wake up and re-position itself. Our cat thinks this is a fine new toy because of this! Fast forward a week and she now ignores the vacuum. She actually sits in its path without bothering to look up as it comes towards her. When it hits her, it's gentle enough that she continues ignoring it and it changes direction. She still bats at it at the charger occasionally, though.

It's ok
I've had this for a couple months now.Pro's:It's good at cleaning around chairs and wallsIt's pretty quietIt cleans up the stuff that it finds pretty wellCleaning and emptying it is really easyBattery life is pretty goodCon's:It fill find any loose cable you have in the house and get tangled in itIt has trouble with heights, it can't make it over my cat5 cable and has to do some gymnastics to get onto my floor matsPathfinding is really bad. It kind of just drives around randomly until it dies. The pathfinding seems completely random, so it'll often clean the same spot multiple times and never get anywhere close to other spots of the room. It will drive straight until it runs into something, then try to clean around it. This means is really bad at cleaning things that aren't near walls. You can kind of make it more efficient by locking it in a room, but that's annoying.Scheduling is really bad. You can only set one time for it to run automatically, so you can't have it run at say, 8AM and 12PM. It also can't do days of the week so it will always run. Also the remote requires you to have line of sight with the robot or it won't run.The controls on the remote are pretty useless . The directional control is good for when it refuse to get near that one spot you want cleaned, but the "spot cleaning" feature and "wall" feature are pretty bad. It's pretty good at cleaning, so anything that you'd use spot cleaning on is probabbly not a job for a vacuum in the first place. The wall thing doesn't even really make sense. The "Return to base" feature is pretty bad too. It'll go, but more often then not it just heads in the direction of the base but then messes up if there's anything in between it and the base. I have seen it return to base, but I'm not sure if it ever left the base in the first place because of the scheduling on the remote lolVerdictIt's ok if you're fine with something cheap that may or may not clean what you need, but I wouldn't use it with any "high traffic" house. It's just me in my apartment and its "ok" at cleaning it.

Title of this item is innacurate, it is an A4, not an A4S (and the upgrades that comes with it).
The model sold is NOT an A4S, it is an A4.The A4S has a better battery, a better gear on the Brittle brush, has a better motor, and has a mini-room mode that help prlongued the life of the battery. Theses are not small omitions. So when you buy an A4S knowing that, you're unhappy to receive the older A4You can argue that the description of the item refered to the A4, but the title was clearly misleading. Lesson learned, but I hope that you will not have to learn it the hard way like I did.

UPDATED - Helpful house buddy
***UPDATE - one year later and it’s still working just fine! *** What a fantastic little house helper. Purchased as a gift for the household and we’ve been watching it do it’s thing for a few days now. Works flawlessly. Wanders around and eventually covers the whole place. Returns to charges on its own when it’s done. The sensor system seems to be very intuitive and gets into some places I never thought it could. Well worth the money (bought on sale for ~180). It’s also an entertainment peice since we spend a lot of time just watching it do it’s thing. (We named it Buddy)

A clean house without you vacuuming it
The media could not be loaded. Who loves vacuuming the house a couple of times a week, or more, especially if you have pets? Not me. I am pretty sure everyone's the same as me. Having said that I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money on a robot vacuum. This one seemed reasonably priced and seemed to have all the important features, so I gave it a tryWhat you may like1. Excellent packaging to protect the unit so it doesn't get damaged in transit, shows that the vendor cares of the unit not being damaged2. Very sleek looking and great color. This is going to be sitting in your living room, so it better look good right?3. Beautiful simple design, a protecting plate in the front, simple on/off switch, auto switch and a remote that is very easy to use making the use of the overall unit simple4. Powerful vacuum for its size, picks up a lot of dirt, all the hair, and the max power mode cleans carpet as well (more about it below)5. Scissor track on the brush allows you to easily cut thread, hair that gets entangled in the brush6. low profile allows it to get under any furniture7. Edge mode works very well9. Can be set up to automatically turn on a specific time of the day and set it go a certain number of times a week10. Automatically goes back to charging station when the battery is low11. Long run time to do 1500 sqft thoroughly before charging12. Excellent sensors that detects obstacles including stairs13. At $250, it is an excellent value for money14. Three step cleaning including a hepa filterWhat you may not like1. Initially it is a hit or miss to find the charging station, but as it keeps vacuuming it learns where the base is and always finds it.2. It is not as powerful as a regular upright vacuum, but compared to the automation and the size of this unit, it is not significantly worse, but for carpets, I would recommend the pet hair/dust removing powder before using this, or it is not going to do a good job3. Can't do stairs, but not sure how that would be possibleWe have been using it for almost a year and not sure how we lived without a robot cleaner all this while. You still have to probably have to use your big vacuum to do the stairs and the carpet maybe once a month, but that's a lot better than twice a week or more, or even once a week.
