Wow...like it so far, great price, quick delivery, and easy install!
I was so pleased to see this part on Amazon. I purchased my Panasonic about 10yrs ago and didn't want to have to pay what I was being told a new lamp (and installation) would cost. Finding the lamp for such a great price showed great promise - but have to admit that after reading some of the negative reviews (lamp life, is it really a new part, no instructions) I was a bit hesitant. However, after balancing those reviews with the positive - I thought it was worth a shot - and so far, I am happy. The part arrived timely, well packaged (protected). It actually sat in my living room for a couple of days while I tried to find my manual, then I downloaded one - but to my suprise it didn't tell you how to change the lamp or where the darn thing was! (LOL) I tried to draw on my memory from watching the techs that came out in the past - knew it was in the front, but where? Silly me - still hadn't opened the new lamp's box - until today - and low and behold, there were instructions!!! OK - they did say "locate the area" (LOL) but the diagram pointed me in the right direction - and then I figured it out - one screw here, then another screw on the old lamp - pulled that out - slid in the new lamp - tightened the screw - replaced the panel - turned on the tv - and started my "happy dance" as the picture came up!Next - "how do I reset the timer?" Again, no directions anywhere - the manual just said to do it but didn't tell me how. Thank goodness for the internet - found the answer on ask.com (Hold the down vol button on the tv - and at the same time press either PIP or SPLIT on your remote - a moment later the screen said lamp meter reset to "0"!)...now I'm really feeling good. But then, the "smell" - got worried because (of course) as I researched found mention that non-OEM lamps do this and it doesn't go away - but then found another that said it does. I recall being told once that there are times when a smell will emit from items while "something" (can't remember; was it sulfur?) burns off - so I am just believing that this is the case and the smell will eventually fade.Overall I am happy with this purchase - the vendor and the product - will update if the lamp doesn't perform as well in a few months, or if that darn smell doesn't dissipate - but I am thinking positively! Thanks Amazon!!!

not quite what i wanted...
while this item came at the date intended and was not damaged in any form it looked new and I had no problems with it at the time it came after I installed it is when I started noticing problems.so the first problem I had about a couple of days after purchased was that my Panasonic TV kept shutting off as if it had told me I am watching to much TV so at first I thought it was no big thing .I keep monitoring the TV and from time to time it will shut off to standby mode due to overheating I believe and this can be quite annoying as it takes about 2-3 min to start up again and if I am watching something good and it goes off while that just makes me mad.A couple of times when the screen turned off it has actually showed me a orange color light which tells me its ether broken or something is wrong so I had to unplug my TV and that's hard since its in the back and quite hard to get to but got it back up and running.all in all I would say its what you pay for but I'd be careful on who to buy it from because it works just not like I wanted.

great, but need better installation instructions.
Right part number replacing failing lamp (purchased tv Feb. 2005 and first time replacing the lamp). Two key issues. 1) The instructions were not complete enough. The door to open and get access to the lamp is BEHIND a removable front panel. The TV manual nor the lamp instructions explained that. 2) The timer needed to be reset, there is no instructions on "how to" in the manual, nor with the new lamp instructions.Luckily; 1) Installation instructions at the Panasonic website had pictures and step by step on face plate removal, unscrew the door and unscrew the lamp, so that problem was answered by Panasonic; 2) Was answered by a kind person who listed the step by step procedure to "reset" the time. I cut and pasted those instructions and that helped me rid the on-screen lamp warning and reset to "0" the time.

Excellent Generic Lamps
Did the trick, Amazon had it here in less than 8 hours with Same Day Shipping for under $40. Easy install, don't waste your money paying a TV repair man for this. Just order from Amazon and plug it in your self, save $100-300 instantly. The bad reviews are coming from people who expect these bulbs to last 2+ years like their originals. That is not going to happen unless you are very lucky, but you should be able to expect about 6-12 months out of these bulbs for less than 1/4 the cost of a genuine lamp.

Failed in 8 months
I replaced my lamp when a warning started popping up. The picture is only incrementally, not dramatically brighter than it was with my "failing" lamp. Still for a fraction of the price from Panasonic, I am very satisfied.Update - after 8 months the TV wouldn't come on. I pulled this replacement lamp and reinstalled the old one that came with the TV and it's working again.I wrote the shipper of the replacement lamp. This is a direct quote of their response."Hello. I am sorry that the unit did not last as long as you thought it would, any generic replacement lamp will last about 8-12 months. The O Series, which has an Osram bulb, should last around 1.5-2 years. We can not replace this unit for you as it came with a 5 month warranty from the date of purchase."Needless to say I will not order from them again.
