WDWESTERN DIGITAL My Book Duo External Hard Drive, 20 TB 3.5, Black

Purchased on 6th October, stopped working today (12th October). The hard drive doesn't mount and I can't even reformat it. Returning the item and very upset.

When i made the purchase i was nervous about the product. But when i received it and used it. Its great. It gave me peace of my mind now. I transferred my old files worth 5tb to this drive. Now My PC is clean and fast. Even when i try access files from this drive its fast there is no delay. Im planning to buy one more once i have cash.. i need one more!!

So far so good. Great capacity and speed, arrived saved internationally.

Still using it as of now. Storage of my video games. Takes quite a few seconds to load upon startup but after that it works fine.

The hard drive is excellent, no back fan, no sound, no overheating, just perfect and the look is awesome

Easy to set up, good copy speed, works well

Very good quality product. Always had much better luck with WD compared to Seagate.

I have received my book 18 Tb , make sure to format it before use other wise you gonna lose around 2tb due to capacity method .

I had the 20TB version of this and have been using for several months and like another reviewer says, it gets too hot, the fans go crazy and the drives loses contact immediately.It started doing this just a few weeks into using it thinking it was a glitch but could live with it. Over time it got worse and now it can't stay connected for more than 15 mins before seemingly overheating and the fans running at full speed and disconnecting from PC.I should add, It has plenty of ventilation (I have even laid it on its side so the bottom vents have free air flow), is not dusty and not in a hot room and is not is use 24/7.Once it gets back up and running again, it passes all the WD tests from the supplied software and have never seen any errors.The only thing keeping it running while I got all my content off it (for a refund) was to remove the drive access cover and put a USB powered fan next to it - then it worked ok so there is definitely a heat issue with it.When it works, its good and fast but for almost £600, the last thing you want for large amounts of content is drives overheating for no apparent reason.

I bought this device to write cache files which would happen once or twice a week. Unfortunately every time I do the device overheats, the fans go crazy and the device becomes inaccessible. The device also does this randomly each day. I contacted WD support and they told me that the device isn't designed to be left on and is for sporadic use only. They told me to buy a NAS. When I asked for a refund they told me to talk to amazon but of course it's been over three months so there is no recourse. I am now stuck with a drive that isn't fit for purpose. RUBBISH!!!!

Like most, I was purchasing these for the drives inside, rather than for use as an external unit, typically proving to be the cheaper way of buying larger drives when they're on offer.The WD 6TB My Book Desktop contains a WD60EZRZ drive - a Western Digital Blue, 3.5" SATA III drive - 6Gb/s, 5400 RPM disk with 64MB Cache. In open air, spin and seek noise seems to be better than a now-neighbouring Seagate drive, appearing to be very similar to some of my older WD Green drives (which I think these newer Blue drives have largely replaced in the last few years). For use as a video-hosting server drive, it's pretty much ideal - low power on idle, 5A peak during full use, remains cool even during prolonged usage.It's simple to open the case itself - a small flat-nose screwdriver or some plastic cards will do to pry the top-end open (from there it's just a case of pushing), and you'll need a Torx (T10) to remove the drive from the inner mounts. There's youtube videos about removing it from the case and what to watch for it you plan on removing it (just needs a bit of care to watch snapping off some plastic clips when doing the initial steps).

Qualità di costruzione ottima (apparentemente).Dischi non velocissimi, ma abbastanza silenziosi.Attenzione a non metterlo su superfici che possono creare una cassa di risonanza, altrimenti diventa tutto rumoroso.Comodissime le due porte USB posteriori, le quali lo fanno diventare come un Hub USB.La funzione Hub continua ad essere operativa anche se si "disconnette in modo sicuro" la periferica My Book Duo e si lascia il cavo USB connesso. Ottimo, se si hanno altri dischi attaccati alle USB posteriori.Prezzo super. 16 TB in offerta a 330 euro.Amazon invece, come sempre, vergognosa quando si tratta di imballare oggetti delicati. Sono degli emeriti irresponsabili. Hanno estrema necessità di imparare le basi dell'imballaggio. Ripeto, le basi... Poi magari una seconda lezione sulla forza di gravità e sulla teoria degli urti.==============================AGGIORNAMENTO dopo pochi giorni==============================Notato un suono "elettrico", un sibilo, dalla parte posteriore del dispositivo, udibile quando i dischi sono fermi e l'alimentatore è inserito. Non accettabile da un prodotto del genere.Anche il supporto tecnico WD ha confernato non rispettare gli standard di qualità WD.Amazon concede solo il rimborso sull'oggetto, probabilmente perché comprato in offerta. No sostituzione.Passo da 5 a 2 stelle.==============================AGGIORNAMENTO 2==============================Acquistato un altro My Book Duo, questa volta da 28 TB alla modica cifra di 760 euro, ANCHE questo presenta lo stesso identico problema della versione da 16 TB: un ronzio elettrico proveninete dalla parte bassa del case, perfettamente udibile quando i dischi sono fermi.Veramente deludente da un marchio come WD. Questo tipo di ronzzii elettrici si sentono solo nelle robacce elettroniche da quattro soldi. Che senso ha usare dischi RED super efficienti se poi vengono collegati a schede logiche progettate male!?Inaccettabile per prodotti semi-professionali o presunti tali.Tutta la serie di questo modello, dunque è da riprogettare.Veramente inaccettabile.L'assistenza ufficiale WD poi, sembra cascare dalle nuvole... Possibile che non ne sappiano nulla!? Si sono limitati a descrivere il problema come possibilmente generato dall'alimentatore e pertanto si propongono solo di mandarne un altro. ASSOLUTAMENTE INDECENTE.Passo da 2 a 1 stella.==============================AGGIORNAMENTO 3==============================Il supporto WD attribuisce il problema all'alimentatore, ma non è così. Ci hano inviato un alimentatore sostitutivo, ma è arrivato il modello diverso con amperaggio diverso (3 A invece di 4A)... come se non sapessero che per i dischi da 8 TB in su servono 4 A, come riportato esplicitamente dal manuale.Comunque, il problema non è l'alimentatore, ma quello che c'è dentro il case. Non siamo riusciti ad avere una risposta chiara ed efficace. Possibile che lì nessuno abbia notato nulla di anomalo su un esemplare in loro possesso!?Passo da 1 a 0 stelle.ATTENZIONE a mandare articoli in RMA alla WD, perché è possibile che vi rimandino roba RICONDIZIONATA in sostituzione.In pratica, voi comprate con soldi nuovi qui ed quelli vi rimandano roba riciclata.INDECENTE.

Controleur RAID propriétaire. une fois le RAID1 configuré, lorsqu'on sort un des deux disques, impossible d'extraire les données de ce disque. En gros, si vous avez une panne d'un disque, il est impossible de sortir les données du disque restant. la reconstruction passe automatiquement par le boitier et s'il y a un crash, vous perdez l'intégralité des données. Je trouve le concept assez dangereux en cas de panne car le concept de sécurité est toujours mis en avant mais je recommande une mise en situation de crash avant de l'utiliser au quotidien pour être sur du comportement du boitier ... Pour ma part, dans une situation particulière le produit ne remplit pas les critères d'utilisation et de sécurité de données. Retour demandé. En attente d'un remboursement
