Ordered these in the past, usually 1 or 2 don't work. Surprised all of this order worked

Why can't these be reformatted?
They work ok out of the box but when you try to erase them and reuse them they become unusable . Not sure why. Not very happy. I have had to pitch half of them.

One of the USB got damaged first use
First time I tried move some files to USB suddenly stopped working. Since then USB was never again recognized by any computer I tried.
