After all, it is electrostatic. Litter, not so much. **Q: Does this sweeper pick up pet hair?** A: We have a border collie in our home who sheds copiously in spite of all the combing! This sweeper will pick it up well when pulled backward over the hair. When going frontward, the hair will "roll up" but not pick up. I enjoy using this sweeper in between the regular vacuuming. For the amount of hair our dog sheds, this does well. **Q: How do you empty it? Does the dust tray come off, or do you wrangle the whole sweeper over the trash can?** A: There are two dust trays hinged on the body of the sweeper. I just hold the sweeper upright over the trash can, release one side and then the other, and give it a little shake to get all of the debris out. I have long been researching options to pick up dust/fluff, hair etc. quickly, I think I did a great job comparing Bissell vs other NoName Sweepers on our market ( Switzerland, Europe). I contacted Fuller if they can send it to us to Switzerland, but there was no way. So I ordered it here to a delivery address to Germany. Yesterday I got it and could not wait to see if it collects my long blond hair, my husbands fluff , dog hair etc. THIS SWEEPER DOES AN AMAZING JOB! I went through hard floor, and hard wood floor plus carpets. All surfaces clean! I was really shocked how much fluff was collected off the "seemingly" clean carpet. Wow! The best that this even cleans up the in-between places at the junctions of carpet and hard floor where Bissell was not great at all. Top top top or as we say here, tip top! I was looking for a solution to collect fluff quickly and quietly, and this is the best I found. Amazingly smooth and makes no noise compared to a hand vacuum. The sweeper house is sturdy, even if it bumps into a harder surface - eg. wall, table - it does no harm. Most importantly, it will not damage more expensive rugs. Of course, this is not for deep cleaning and will not replace regular vacuuming, but for everyday I found the solution I wanted!
