Turn on that iGPU
I got this HDMI dummy plug to activate my iGPU, and it's pretty good. Setting it up was easy, and it improved my computer's performance for plex hw transcoding. But sometimes it would disconnect, and I had to unplug and plug it back in. Overall, it's a good choice for activating iGPU.

Lets me run a headless machine in parsec
Parsec can't get video out if your computer isn't plugged into any monitors [ie: headless].Bought this, instantly fixed.

Works For What I Need
Using this dummy plug I am now able to remote access a NAS computer at any time, the TV does not have to be on. If you lose a remote connection to another computer for example, then this dongle will keep the remote computer from appearing to sleep.

When the PC or software wants a video signal and you don't/can't have one.
There seems to be some very odd software behavior sometimes... why must it want a monitor connected to port to provide capability? Well this has come to the rescue for some of that for us. Interestingly, an entire series of Dell workstations that we have will *not* do a remote BIOS update with actually seeing a video signal on a video port... We have a number of them as "live backup" systems to drop into place. As such, they don't have monitors, but need to be fully updated at all times. These little butties have saved the day. Just jam them into the DisplayPort port and problem solved... They also help for headless remote access to help get you better remote resolution instead of the crappy low res defaults when you have not monitor connected.

Great for headless operation
Let pc thinks a monitor is connected. High resolution for headless pc. Great for unattended access. I am able to get full resolution and performance when remoting into the pc. I can tuck tiny pc in a corner and use when away.

Works with Mac mini
This works on my 2012 Mac mini running Catalina. Just remember to hold down the “option” key while clicking on “scaled” (in display settings) to get all screen resolution options. I needed 1440 which doesn’t show up by default.

What I needed to run a server headless
I've been experimenting with running a server headless; however, it has trouble rendering the desktop if a monitor is not connected. This worked perfectly with my Nvidia GTX 1650 video card. I have HDMI going to a real monitor that is not always on. The DP Dummy dongle is "mirored" from the main HDMI output so it always displays.Fixes my problem and will allow me to move the server into a less conspicuous space.** Update May 20Dropped 2 stars. These DP dongles only emulate video and don't do audio passthrough. If you are using them for parsec; it won't work without other software/emulator solutions on top (audio emulation) if your system does not have a built in sound card.Emailed the seller for alternative solutions; no response.Just understand that these are fine for video emulation but don't have the full stack a regular DP/HDMI port would have.
