Makes Trimming hedges easy!
I was using a corded trimmer. Nothing wrong with it other than having to drag around a 100' extension cord that my accidentally cut. So, I decided to see what my options were. This 18v trimmer did a fine job of trimming our shrubs, I used it with my 6ah battery that did all of bushes in landscaping on one charge. Trimmer worked fine, saved time and made it easy to use because there wasn't an extension cord. I have several of the One+ tools and compatible batteries so this was just a natural expansion of my tool set. I especially appreciated the plastic guard that protects the trimming edge, and the convenient notch where the battery goes in the timmer that allows you to hang the trimmer from a nail/screw. (I wish the leaf blower and string trimmers had that feature) I would strongly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a hedge trimmer.

No Battery Included
Just received my trimmer and learned there is no batter and charger included. Picture is misleading as it shows one attached. Should state in title whereas battery and charge sold separately. I would have ordered on at the same time. Didn't noticed til now it says it in the last sentence of the Product description. I didn't scroll down that far to notice it (small print). This should be clearly stated on top.

Works well
I bought this to trim the bushes and hedges at my home. It worked very well. I got decent battery life while doing fairly heavy trimming with it. Using the bigger battery I got about 35 minutes of work per charge. I would recommend having 2 or 3 three batteries so one is not interrupted by recharges. I found it to be fairly quiet compared to my neighbors gasoline powered unit. Make sure you put a bit of lube on the blades where they slide back and forth.

Bar oil. Buy it. Use it.
This hedge trimmer was out of stock at my local big box stores. Next day delivery on Amazon Prime at a similar price to in-store purchase. The trimmer is heavier than some I have tried (two other brands loaned to me by my neighbors). However, I use a 6amH battery which is heavier than the 4amH battery used in many Ryobi ONE+ tools. I enjoyed the full 22" cut and the way the center guard helps clear cut foliage and shrubbery branches. I feel this tool is a good value and easy to use. Where I did not see any instruction in the manual indicating a need for bar and chain oil, i coated the cutting blades a few hours before use and then put the black protective plastic guard back on to contain the oil. Common sense says you should lubricate metal surfaces which reciprocate against one another to reduce wear and keep the cutters sharp.

Interchangable battery, well balanced, easy to use.
Cordless, uses the same battery as my other Ryobi tools and has a good balance in my hands, its not akward to use...love it!

Don't be deceived by the price!
I have been pleased by Ryobi products in the past, including a power drill and a weed whacker. The weed whacker came with a battery and charger. Consequently, I was pleased to purchaser this trimmer for $108. I expected that the battery and charger would be included. They were not! I had to buy the charger and batteries separately. The charger cost an additional $40, and the battery came in a 2-battery pack for $129. Ryobi does not sell chargers and batteries directly to the public, so I had to buy them from Home Depot. In total, I paid $277 for this trimmer, batteries and charger. The trimmer is terrific, but it costs more than is apparent.

Great tool for the residential landscape
I try to minimize the number of battery types and charges, so I chose the Ryobi One+ line of tools that all use the same 18-volt battery. I have used this tool once. It feels sturdy and produces clean cuts. It is not clear from the description, but the sweep on the top of the blade is removable. I do not anticipate using the sweep accessory. Very pleased with this hedge trimmer which is the 3rd Ryobi tool that I own (along with my string trimmer and blower).

Good trimmer!
I had ordered, and received, a Ryobi 18" trimmer. It wasn't up to the job, so I returned it and ordered a 22" one. The 22" trimmer is up to the job!
