TOSHIBA Canvio Flex 1TB Portable External Hard Drive USB-C USB 3.0, Silver for PC, Mac, & Tablet - HDTX110XSCAA

I bought two, even with the bad reviews and now I'm paying for it. One worked great and is really fast with transfer speeds upto 10GB sec. It also has the new USB 3 to USB type C. so no good in a laptop. The second one failed after 10 minutes.DO NOT BUY PLEASE AVOID THIS HDD

Bought as an extra backup… one SSD failed on me so thought I'd mix the tech a bit. The drive was shipped from the US to the UK. The photo shows this to be the latest version of the canvio advance. Photos on amazon showed the old and new all mixed up. Not certain what I would exactly receive. Write/read speeds difficult to pin down on the web. Interface quoted in specs as Usb 1.1 😕 and on youtube etc test speeds were all over the place so not expecting too much from it, performance wise. But… writes data on my kit (on both a 2014 desktop and a 2020 laptop) at a steady 140Mbs… reads at 150+Mbs. Which is not bad for a HDD.Security software (which is a type of whole disc encryption) works fine and No loss of transfer speeds when using it. You don't have to use it for the drive to work. I did not use the backup software. Drive needed a security update when I checked the settings.Impressed and happy, so far…👍

Very best and portable recognised by most Operating systems . I use it for the PS4 to store games worked first time after formatting.

Waste of time and money as a backup external hard drive. I know hard drives can fail which is why people buy backups but I expected it to last much longer than 1 month.Just missed the Amazon returns policy by 2 days when I checked this morning so not sure if I can return directly to Toshiba or seller

This is the second Toshiba 2tb hard drive I have purchased. The other is the advanced model purchased about 4 years ago. This one ( a flex) is for a second backup.I’m no tech expert but I have found them reliable and well built in a small package. The flex delivers a speedy transfer of files.I would definitely recommend.

I use it for recording TV on my Sony xr-55a80j. It was easy to set up once the correct USB port was used. When the hard drive starts up there is the characteristic whine which is only audible in a quiet room but never intrusive. Once the TV sound is on the hard drive is effectively silent. With 2TB there is plenty of space

I use this to backup my photos etc. It appears to work very well.

This was purchased for a back up for an iMac. Worked fine for 6 months then failed.
