Advantage II Flea Control Large Cat (for Cats Over 9 lbs.) - 2 Month

So here is the deal. Cats will hate almost anything you put on their fur. After trying every flea medicine, Hartz Advantage II prevails, and in Amazon ratings as well. DO NOT use ANY other brand with the exception of Frontline (does not kill adult fleas) as most brands will cause seizures, drooling, and things you dont want to put your pet through. Both my cats get very upset and cannot properly groom for 2 to 3 days after treatment, this is true of all brands. Read the box, this product kills adult fleas, most other brands do not, and would say it right on the front of the box if it did. Other brands leave the adults hopping around biting everyone. (there is one competing brand which also uses flea paralysis) Minutes after treatment all the adult fleas stop moving, so they cant jump off the pet. The flea paralyzer has a great effect on instantly stopping all adult fleas. This treatment also eliminates them any area the cat sleeps, and if stray fleas hop on the cat later. Adult fleas can live a year. I have never had to use more than 3 treatments 2 to 3 weeks apart to completely eliminate the problem. Most often it took two treatments My cats do not go outdoors, I bring home the fleas from other peoples homes in my shoes and my clothing. This treatment did cause one of the cats to barf after eating, from getting in in their mouth while grooming on day 2. That and behavioral changes related to grooming were the only downside. Placement is critical, and it is important to observe the cats for awhile. On first use, try to prevent multiple pets from grooming each other. This is a cat routine, and they wont be happy, but this is the only effective way Ive found to completely eliminate fleas and have everything back to normal by day 4. I took a star from presentation for lack of simpler instructions.. ie your cat may barf up dinner.

This was our first time trying Advantage ll. Our cat was having a terrible time with fleas, first time in years it was this bad. He is black and white with a mostly white face. He was so bad you could see them on his face. All he did was scratch, we needed something to hopefully give him some quick relief. We've always purchased our flea products from our vet (at a much higher cost). Finances were tight so I came to Amazon looking for our regular product so I could use my gift cards. Needless to say it wasn't available here so I spent some time researching and reading reviews.This was well worth the risk of trying! Yes, I was afraid of wasting money ( okay...gift cards) on something that might not work.This product was/is amazing! Immediately after the application we could see the fleas dropping off of him.It's extremely easy to use. To apply just make sure you are putting it high enough up on the back or nape of the neck where they can't lick. Move aside the fur so you can apply right onto the skin, squeeze the tube until it's empty. If you aren't sure it's out of the licking reach just keep an eye on them for a bit to make sure. Mine doesn't even try to lick it off.Between the treatment, using salt on the carpets, vacuuming daily and immediately emptying the canister in the outside trash we had things make to normal in a few days. We did use the second does the next month and so far no more fleas.For the time being I think we will stick with Advantage ll. It shipped quickly, arriving before it estimated date, making us all happy!

Started using this in January (I had an extra from my grandma she let me use on my cat, and have subsequently bought this and used it in February and will again in March) and I can really tell, now that I am over 2 doses in, that my cat is not having the flea problem anymore. I have been combing her with a flea comb every day twice a day since late December, she was covered in flea dirt and fleas but now I barely find anything on her (still combing her tho, just to make sure). I did not have the problem with fur loss that some others have reported, thank goodness (I was worried about that!!). It must have been a bad batch or something, who knows. Anyway the product works great. Keep in mind tho drops do not work overnight, they gradually work. So if youre expecting the fleas to just disappear that day or that week you apply the drops for the first time, it doesnt work like that. But so far over these 2 months I have seen great improvement and I am sure with my March dose it will only get better. Will be purchasing again for sure.

Only one of the tubes was actually filled :/The first one I used maybe 3 or 4 drops came out. I usually use Frontline so I wasn't sure how much was supposed to be in them considering the applicator size difference. After a couple days of him still being flea ridden I decided to apply the second tube. There was waaaay more product in that one than the first which knocked the fleas off no problem.Kind of disappointed in being duped out of a tube after paying for two. That and the fact that it doesn't repel TICKS, my mistake in not seeing it's only good for fleas.It does it's job in getting rid of fleas though...

It took a few days, but it worked to rid my cat of fleas which had become more active during our heat wave. I will put this on my shopping list. My cat isn't the only one those fleas bit!
