Este libro resulta innecesario hoy en día. No ofrece nada que no pueda ofrecer una búsqueda en internet sobre la STL. A eso le sumamos que, al ser un libro, no se puede ir actualizando. Reconozco que cuando lo recibí, no estaba muy desfasado (y contaba con ese factor) y le di algo de uso al principio, para olvidarle en un cajón al poco tiempo.No es que el libro sea malo en si. Es simplemente que no tiene sentido hoy en dia. Si tratase sobre los algoritmos detrás de la STL y la razón de esa elección, o de detalles técnicos mas oscuros acerca de como se desarrolla y mantiene la STL, podría ser incluso interesante. Pero simplemente es una referencia (corta y sencilla) de los diferentes elementos que podemos encontrar en la STL. Util si uno se pierde en el campo, sin conexión a internet y acceso a un ordenador en el que quiera escribir código desfasado.

There is no single problem that renders this book as a 3-star rating. However, the presentation is uninspired and there is lack of (short) explanations for the use of the described containers. A single-page example per chapter would suffice to cover the most popular methods. Overall the book is half-success, half-failure. I use it but way less often than the web (online) or my own stored copy of ye old STL_doc from SGI if I have to be unconnected.

If you program in several lanquages, you either have $10k in tools or you have these books in your libraryeven if you have the best IDEs available, the O'Reilly Pocket Refs will give you that extra window your screen just cannot hold

I agree with the previous reviewer that the order of the information in the book could be better.I wanted to use it as a quick look up which can be a little tricky.On the plus size the book is small and most of the information you need is thereand looking things up is much quicker when you have used the book for a while.There aren't any alternative small pocket sized books out there on the subject.
