You must realize that it is just side-view illustrations of sleighs - there are no building instructions, etc. If you just want to get design ideas, this is a great book.

The book is awesome! This edition is better than the last, because it has more plans. I have shared it with many and some even ordered one for themselves. The descriptions are quite interesting. The number and types of sleighs are incredible. The author's careful research is very evident. Best of all, there are actual plans and measurements for building the sleighs, and classic designs for trim so the builder can make his sleigh truly authentic. It tells how to balance correctly, build runners and bodies, and explains the use and origin of each. My Amish neighbors love it. We used a design to build runners for my buggy and I now have a sleigh for the snowiest winter in 20 years!

Majority of book is about building sleighs.Wanted to read little more about their history.Actual photos are limited, mostly sketches.

Wonderful illustrations and enjoyable stories. Great resource for people who want to build or repair sleighs. The author did a great job.

Great book answers all the questions

One day, I would like to build a large sleigh with my husband, so that our family can go Christmas caroling together through the snow. I'm intrigued by the simplicity and hominess of the Victorian era's holiday traditions. It was with that in mind that I purchased Horse Drawn Sleighs, by Susan Green. Her information was well-documented and -described, the illustrations were beautiful and detailed, and I feel that, with her book in hand, my able husband and I will be able to build a beautiful vehicle to transport family and friends when the winter snowflakes begin to pile up!

Great book on the subject very hard to find information.
