Very easy to use.
I wanted to test my dogs DNA. I just sent the kit in so I don't know if it is accurate or not. My house insurance won't insure me next year because they say my dog is a pitbull. She is a rescue and does look a little like a pit bull. I have been told by 2 different people that she is a Walker Hound. I don't know but intend to fight the insurance company on this. This is Doggie discrimination. I have had her for 6 years and never had any problem with her, she is a good dog. She loves people and wants to lick them.( that could be a problem) I even asked the insurance company if they would take testimony from my neighbors. The answer was no.So I am hoping the test will give us the truth. Even if she isn't a pit bull I am changing insurance companies.Thank youCalapooia_one

Easy to use, results are clear
We rescued a mutt and at the dog park someone always asks what kind of dog he is; so we did this DNA test to get an idea.It was waaaaay cheaper than a vet visit to get the DNA, especially since we were just curious, not trying to prove his pure-breed status (which he clearly doesn't have).I don't know how accurate it is, but our results were certainly plausible and looked to be pretty spot on.Very easy to use, though puppy didn't appreciate the cotton swab in his mouth. Now when someone asks... he is MOSTLY black lab, with some Dobermann and Rottweiler. :)

To register, one needs a computer, not a smartphone, and a way to attach a photo.
I really liked all the breed information sent with the results, but getting it all registered online is a royal pain, and not everyone can even do that, yet there is no warning, when purchasing the kit, that this will be necessary. The price is good, but I feel telling them what breed you think your dog is and sending a picture is like telling a psychic your personal history. They're supposed to rely on DNA to find this out.

Slightly interesting, but not really useful.
My wife wanted this for our elderly mixed breed dog. All the results really told us was that he consists of a lot of different breeds mixed together, which we already knew. Really not sure what we gained by knowing the many breeds he is comprised of. Was it worth the cost? From my perspective, no. From my wife's, yes.

Worked Great For Us
We did three of our dogs. All three of these dogs came of the streets of Houston, TX. They were all unhealthily and had heart worms except the big one. The big one lived on the streets untouched by humans for at least 6 months. That said we had no idea what kind of dogs (it really makes no difference as far as we love them goes). We knew the one was part Pug based on the color wrinkled face ect. but had no idea the other part She is part Feist which perfectly explains behavior and general attitude perfectly. The 14 year old terrier mix came back cain terrier as the largest amount which was already guessed by vet etc but was still good to get all the other breeds mixed because there is a few.The Large dog which people always said she was a pit mix. My doubts about that is she is larger than pit pulls and loves water to swim and play in. Her chip (yes she had a chip) American Bulldog. Her results Dogue de Bordeaux which I never heard of and lesser extent Bull Mastiff and Old English Bulldog. Makes perfect sense as she is 75 to 80 lbs small for Dogue de Bordeaux but the other breeds in her and the fact that much of her early life was on the street and lack of nutrition. I think the test were very accurate and recommend this product.

Not recommended
(Note: Dog DNA and DNA Affirm appear to be the same item sold as DNA My Dog, based on my ordering experience). I decided to DNA test my dog, but also to try three different testing services simultaneously to compare the results. I used what looked like the most popular services: Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel, Embark, and DNA My Dog. Long-story-short, Mars returned the results surprisingly quickly, while DNA My Dog took ridiculously long to get the results (ironic, since the speed of results is one of its marketing points), but hands down Embark took by far the longest to return results. The services were not wholly consistent in their results. They all provided the same primary breed ancestry, but did not agree on the secondary breeds. Both Mars and Embark provided the same breed results. DNA My Dog appeared to provide results more closely aligned with the picture of the dog I uploaded, but different from the other two. Subsequently, I tested another dog with both Mars and DNA My Dog. I did not upload a picture. Mars returned correct results based on what was known about the dog. DNA My Dog provided ridiculously wrong results (large breed results for a 19 pound dog). Embark is superior to Mars in the amount and depth of analysis provided, especially the health analysis. All in all, I’m inclined to favor Mars for faster, lower cost results delivery. However, if time and price are not an issue, then Embark provides the most comprehensive, informative, and interesting results. I do not recommend DNA My Dog.

So Cool!
I have been wanting to DNA test my sweet rescue mutt for a few years now. She came to me as an emergency foster when she was an approximately 6 month old puppy. She was an emergency rescue from imminent danger with no history at all on her. She was my first foster fail with my rescue organization. I was pleased with the results of the DNA analysis. "Pit Bull" is such a broad, blanket term, and I wanted to find out why she is a very petite 48lbs with a slim body. I think that the negative reviews on this product are from those who have been duped by backyard breeders and are either in denial, or sore to find out that their pooch is not 100% pure in it's breed composition. News flash: backyard breeders are only in it for the money - of course they lie. Rescue your next best friend instead!

Results received...got the service I paid for
Received results in a reasonable amount of time (actually sent my own ancestry sample out at the same and this was processed quicker). Although I have no prior expectations not knowing my anything about my rescue dog’s parents, I think results were believable. It seems like a lot of the people who have a preconceived expectatation of their results may not necessarily understand the mathematics behind how genetics work...I plan to try a second kit on our other rescue as well
