I have used this book for two of the six paintings. The book provides some useful information and tips, but also misses a LOT out. However, because this is so often the case with written art instruction, I decided to use it anyway. In each case I would do a first painting, see what I had missed, and based on that, do a second painting. This worked quite well and helped me overcome a number of the inadequacies of the instructions. Some examples of which are:Although the instructor tells you what size brushes to use, there is no indication of the size paper to use! So am I to use a one-inch brush on a 10" x 8" painting, a 20" x 16" painting, or maybe something that is 15" x 12" or 30 x 24"?The sample painting sizes in the book are most unhelpful. For one of the pictures it's 5 3/16" x 3 13/16" or 13.1 centimeters x 9.8 centimeters. What the heck proportion is that? And how do you size up in proportion?At certain stages you apply masking fluid to the painting surface. A photograph of the applied fluid is provided. NOTHING is visible on the photograph!The paint choices are provided. For one of the paintings these include "opera" and "permanent green #1" and "permanent green # 2". But which manufacturer? I couldn't find paint with these names. Of course I made assumptions and substitutes, but this made the instructions a burden rather than helpful.And much more of the same.So I would say, if you already have some knowledge of watercolor, and are willing to persevere, throw away some wasted watercolor paper, and work with inadequate material, this book could be moderately useful.

Nice book for beginners.

Be warned. This book is only 32 pages long and 8 of those are devoted to brushes, paint, paper etc - the sort of stuff you get in most books on watercolour painting and doesn't need repeating in a book this short in my opinion.

I bought this title after I liked the picture of the front cover of this book. But unfortunately that book is written by a different author.Ronald Pratt has a different style and he is very bold with colours. Don't buy this book based on the front cover.

This book has wonderful projects in it. I cannot wait to get started
