Can this be used in a microwave?

I have a couple of these in different brands. One has wire tying the laps together and I can't recall which one it is. If it's 100% bamboo then I don't see why it couldn't be used in the microwave. Other than the fact that you're not steaming at that point. Kinda defeats the whole purpose, if you ask me.

I have yet to purchase this Joyce Chen Bamboo Steamer and wonder how you make sure that it is cleaned properly after use,

It's literally self cleaning. Hot water and steam will kill all bacteria, if you're still concerned then I'd take a small bristle brush and gently scrub

It's a wonderful bamboo steamer, I wish it would fit in my instapot but it doesn't. So I use it in my large wok, perfect!

Bought this and love the baskets. They work really well for cooking vegetables and gyoza particularly. Put baking paper in to cook gyoza or bao buns and came out really nicely. Can recommend this product.
