Walking Stick seems to fold out fine and sturdy however there are 3 clear plastic things on the shaft which slide up & down. What is their purpose?

They keep the metal sections from rubbing on each other (and damaging the painted finish) when you have it folded. Keep them there. I found out the hard way that if you don't use them, the edges of the folded sections rub together and ruin the look of the cane at the joints.

I'm 5' tall and having trouble finding a can that is short enough for me. Do you think this cane will work?

I am about 5’ 2” and thought the cane was perfect. It has 3 adjustments, so I think you should have no problem with it.

I see that other canes offer different bases that adjust to your moves. Are there any for this cane?
