Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent

Fabulous historical reference to todays immigration issues.
A must read for anyone who needs to understand the colonialism, imperialism and resultant capitalist endeavors benefiting those other than Latin Americas and the long term effect it has had fueling the diaspora of its people. Follow up with Everyone Who is Gone is Here by Jonathan Blitzer and Exit Wounds by Ieva Jusionyte. You may be able to have an intelligent conversation on the border following the reading of these books. Most folks are clueless especially those who have the responsibility to develop border policy.

Masterclass!!
Surely, one of my greatest and most remarkable follies is not reading this book during the first 42 years of my somewhat worthless life.

Imprescindible
Es un GRAN libro. Recomendadísimo para indagar en lo que realmente pasó en Latinoamérica con la llegada de los españoles con el toque romántico de Galeano.

Absolutely Necessary Read
My only complaint is that since this book was published in the early 1970s no one has created an updated version. This book is horrifying and upsetting, you will never see certain industries and countries the same again. I think it is absolutely vital that everyone read this book.
