Does the job
First of all, the 4-in-1 is marketing bs to make it sound like you're getting more for your money, it really comes with 2 blades - (a trimming blade and a shearing blade) with an adjustable pole you can attach them to. I chose this product because it's corded electric powered at a reasonable price that can do multiple jobs for me.My uses are :1) - the shearing blade to trim edges on my lawn and other things sticking out of my flower bed (not great but works ok - doesn't look clean but maybe if you take your time it works)2) - the trimming blade to prune my bushes - for this it works fantastic.Pros:One tool for multiple purposes.Corded electric basedBudget friendlyEasy to use, easy to switch blades, extend pole etc.Cons:Jams easily (fragile)When used with the pole, it can be quite heavy and you may not be able to use it's height advantage due to weightLoud (no louder than lawn mowers)I've had it for about a month and I've used both blades and the pole and they work fine, but I've been told that black and decker products don't last, but so far so good as long as you're using them for their intended purposes. Some people have said this has died on them so we'll see if this lasts.I took off one star because the shearing blade does jam up if I hit something solid or get something stuck in-between the blades; it will sound like the thing broke. This has happened to me twice in one session when I hit cement and once when a pebble got in-between the blade and if I weren't more handy, I'd think it was broken because that's what it sounded like.So the first time it jammed was when it hit the sidewalk pavement when I was trimming the sides of my lawn, so I took off the shearing blade and tried to unjam it, but it was hard to figure out what was wrong, but after looking at the trimming blade base, it seemed like the attachment bracket wasn't flat (it had popped up from hitting the sidewalk), so I used a flat screw driver to try and pry it back into its original position, then bam it flew back into place - the base plates now became perfectly flat - and it worked once again. The second time it jammed, it was due to a pebble getting caught in-between the shearing blades, so I had to pull out my mallet (don't use your fingers folks) and just knock that out of there and it worked again. So yes, it jams easily, but so far it still works and gets the job done for me and that's what matters. For the money I think it's sufficient. If you have money to burn, then yeah, buy something better, but for me it works.

Reviewing the Black and Decker Grass Trimmer
The media could not be loaded. ย I received my trimmer faster than expected and was able to use it for the first time today. From my first time I was impressed with it. It was easy to put together. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The one thing I would liked changed is it shutting off when you release the power button. I realize that it is probably a safety feature but it would be nice if it did not do that. I did find a work around for it though. If I want to change hands while using it, I get in position and then I put my right hand behind my left hand and push on the button and then I let go with my left hand. It works for me. The other thing I like about this is I got no grass on my pants or my shoes. This is so much better than when I use the line trimmer. It throws grass all over the place. I will try and post a video soon on how it works. This saved my knees and back a lot of pain from getting down to cut the weeds by hand. I would recommend this trimmer. It cut excellent and fast. I was surprised at the power it had for being so small and lightweight. I believe this trimmer is a keeper.

easy to use, flexible prunung system
very happy with this product. I have used it extensively this spring with and without the extension pole. The trimmer (without pole) made short work of trimming back large beds of Geranium and Epimedium that had got overgrown; also worked well on cutting back ornamental grasses that I had left the tops on overwinter. The hedge trimmer (with extension pole) worked great on tip-pruning hemlocks and arborvitae; the rotating head is very helpful. It was a bit heavy with the pole fully extended, but I was able to work for almost 3 hours without getting too tired. The handle on the pole makes all the difference allowing better control and leverage.Of course, it is not as fast as a larger hedge trimmer but it helped me reach full height sides and top on some very tall shrubs and finally clean them up since I couldn't reach them before.

Versatile but SLOW
I liked the versatility, but if you are expecting to be able to plow thru a big job quickly don't hold your breath. Even the instructions say to trim at the tools pace.. which is very slow... I expected the blades to operate fairly quickly like my old larger trimmer which allowed me to move at a slow walk. This trimmer requires a lot of standing in place and and wait for the blades to cycle and work their way thru the shrubs. I ended up getting my manual hand trimmer to do the low areas and sides and relegated this trimmer to the truly hard to reach places.

Solution to trimming along the bottom of our fence.
I found the grass trimmer exactly what I need to trim the grass along the bottom edge of our 100' of new vinyl fencing around our back yard. The fence is so close to the ground that a traditional line trimmer would not work without marring the new fence. I use the grass trimmer with the handle, avoiding the need to bend over to trim along the ground. I've not had a chance to use the hedge trimmer attachment yet, but expect it to work well on the 8 boxwood shrubs along our brick sidewalk to our front entrance.

Back saver
Love this. Now I can cut grass on my embankment without tearing it up with my Electric Black and Decker line trimmer. Iโm 5โ2โ so itโs great for trimming my holly bushes too. Slightly top heavy though but builds my biceps ๐
