Does the product say this thermometer is waterproof and thus can be left in outdoor planting beds for several days even if it rains heavily?

The manufacturer gives two different answers to the same question below about where in the probe is the temperature sensor. So which is it?

How deep do you put it in for lawn soil temperature

There is a rubber piece on the end of my probe. I assume it comes off, but it is not removing easily so is it supposed to?
