If you love to cook with garlic, you will love this!
Um, this is one of my favorite new things. I received it from both my mom AND my friend for my birthday bc they know how much I use garlic while cooking. So, I had to buy it for another friend for his birthday. Why hasn't someone come up with this before now, I wonder??? It is so easy to just put the garlic in, press down, and voila! Your skin is off and it's ready to chop or press.Positives:--Super easy. Some people will say "well I just use a butter knife", and I say: "well, you can't roll the garlic clove with a butter knife, buddy."--You put the garlic clove or even a few in, press down with your palm and then take it out and rub the skin off. It's super easy! I used to cut both end of the clove off and then mess with trying to get the skin off with my nails and it would always invariably take so much time and never would I get all the skin off in one attempt.--It is easy to wash--I really don't even use soap since I just use it for garlic. I simply run it under warm water after I use it to get the garlic out from inside and then leave it to dry.--It's also dishwasher safe if you like that convenience!Negatives:--Out of the past 20 times that I have used it to peel garlic it didn't peel all the skin off of one clove. But maybe that was a particularly difficult clove, I dunno.

Great if you are using several cloves of garlic
I was taught to use the "knife smash" method of peeling garlic: take a knife with a nice heft and crush the garlic bulb just enough for the skin to crack open and easily peel off.I still use this technique when I need to peel a couple of cloves of garlic. But I also love the very E-Z-Rol Garlic peeler for a couple of reasons:1. I hate to spend extra time on any unnecessary extra steps when cooking. If I am making multiple batches of garlic laden meals to freeze ahead of time, the garlic peeler definitely saves time. It is also a cinch to clean.2. Children love to use this and it is certainly safer than a knife for young ones. Having noted that, however, I am somewhat of a purist and teach kids how to peel garlic the traditional way as soon as they have the motor skills to wield a knife or pull off the papery skin by hand. But they also love to use the roller - because it is simply fun. Finally, I have far too many kitchen gadgets that I rarely use so it is a pleasure to have one that is useful, inexpensive, and easy to store...even in a small kitchen.

blue shavings in food
.This tool does work, but the material is so soft that I frequently have little specks of blue on my cutting board and on the garlic. My brother has one of higher quality that is made of a harder material. The bump from the garlic in the tube sometimes hurts the palm of my hand, and I think that a harder tube would make the whole process much easier . . . and safer.Update: It turns out that brother's harder high quality peeler is a TRUE Zak designs peeler. They are made of a harder, shiny material, and the ends are cut like a hack saw. The peeler I received from this merchant was made from a soft dull material, and the ends were cut into round ridges. So, either Zak designs produces an excellent peeler, along with a poor quality peeler that sheds rubber on your food, or this merchant is getting his peelers from someone who is pretending to have a Zak designs product. You can draw your own conclusions. On the plus side, the merchant was polite when I brought this to his attention, and he quickly refunded my money without requiring a return.

Easy to Use & Easy to Clean
I got this out of curiosity. We use a lot of garlic. By that I mean garlic is in almost everything except desserts, well, most desserts.Pros:• It does not take a manual to learn how to use it.• It is fast.• Cleaning it is a snap.Cons:• Should the clove be more flat rather than round, this peeler is not very effective.• There is a mild residual smell of garlic left after cleaning although it is unlikely you will be using this for anything other than its intended specialized purpose.I do not know how long it will last. The material is new to me. In the meantime, it does its job well.

This is a MUST!
This is an absolutely AMAZING AND TIME SAVING tool!!!I have to admit that I was extremely skeptical after reading about this peeler in a "what every cook must have" article. However, this little tool was so reasonably priced, I decided to buy one. I'm so glad I did. It works fabulously.I cook with fresh garlic almost every night. Sure...I can peel my own garlic and maybe I'm just lazy, but I hate doing the task. My first time around, I took 3 large cloves of garlic and inserted them into the peeler; rolled them and in 3 seconds...WOW! All 3 of my cloves were completely peeled. I couldn't believe it!! I gave it a quick rinse with hot water, then inserted a paper towel for drying. Peeling and cleaning were still quicker that hand peeling garlic.Whether you routinely use fresh garlic or not...I promise this isn't just another one of those kitchen gadgets that gets forgotten or isn't used. You WILL love it!! Honest!!

I get why you would want it but...
Works pretty well but you have to cut the tops of the garlic cloves in order for the sleeve to really do its job. In doing that, you will inevitably get garlic juice on your hands but maybe not quite as much as if you were peeling the whole thing with your hands. I purchased this product hoping it would actually speed up the process but it takes about the same time. We use a lot of garlic in our home - Koreans are top consumers of garlic - and I usually have an entire 4 oz container full of peeled garlic to use throughout the week. I usually spend an hour doing this myself but bought this hoping it would shave some time. It was a little quicker but you can only do a few cloves at a time and then you have to rinse it out so you can continue to agitate the next cloves. Rinsing time pretty much negates any time saved during the whole peeling process so yeah. Kind of a wash for me.
