Informative and a great how-to program at the same time. The writing clearly illuminates not just the “what” of SEL in a detailed and organized manner but also the “why” of each activity’s success. I’ve witnessed the power of using this curriculum many times and it never ceases to inspire me. Students and teachers benefit greatly as they get their SEL education through this interactive program. Students have fun as they learn how to be more compassionate, self-aware, and confident.

Robin Fox’s teacher-friendly book offers concrete strategies that I believe would work well with all students. It is one of the best resources I have come across in my 43 years of teaching. What I especially love is her commitment to make all students feel loved and accepted despite their differences.Anything that creates a culture of belonging should be tried in the classroom. As teachers, we need to ensure students that they’re in a safe place where they are loved and accepted. This is something my immigrant students struggle with everyday.The clear concise activities and coaching tips should inspire teachers to feel confident when applying to their classrooms. The improvisation would especially be beneficial to EL students who so many times have to communicate non-verbally to get their point across. I am a piano teacher who has students that range from ages 5 through 16. I have found this curriculum to be so, so helpful in getting the students to engage with the lesson, understand me, and most importantly, be able to express themselves. The mindfulness exercises have been particularly helpful. Love that this is applicable to all types of teachers as opposed to just school teachers!
