Not the Clark's I'd been used to; fraying after one wearing.
I've worn Clarks for years and years. I have two pairs that are almost twenty years old which are in as good shape (if not better, at least fit/comfort-wise) tha the day I bought them. About a year ago, I bought a pair similar to these (albeit more expensive); this pair also being as top-notch as my 'vintage' shoes. Then there's this pair of 'Senner Avenues' which seem to have been made by a totally different company. First of all, they're not all-leather uppers. The inside and outside of the tongue and the inside of the ankles, as well as the footbed, are all composed of various types of cheap-feeling/looking synthetic material. I am hoping that this construction is due to the shoes being lightweight, more breathable versions of their 'normal' shoes. This seems to be implied within their ad copy. They are light, at any rate. But I never thought their shoes were ever overly heavy. Now the worst thing about these: the fact that the stitching is already starting to fray, pretty badly, everywhere except around the sole/upper border. And this is after only one day of wear. Pathetic; they already look pretty ratty. We'll see if this worsens over time, especially to the point where it compromises the shoe's structural integrity. As with other Clarks, they don't seem to have much in the way of arch support--at least at first. If they're anything like my other Clarks, the footbeds will conform perfectly to my feet, developing awesome support/comfort within a couple of weeks. I have my doubts about this, however, since the footbed seems so cheap. To sum things up, I would have returned these things but was, perhaps, foolish enough to have faith in Clarks' reputation. I 'Sno-Sealed' them right away, unfortunately, which I can only assume precludes a return/exchange. Plus, I figured that the price (way lower than most Clarks) was about right for a mediocre pair of shoes, anyway. If it weren't for this, as well as this review being far from a long-term survey of quality, it would have been a solid two stars, as opposed to three.

Great Boot Unless You Have Morton's Neuroma
Like all Clarks' shoes this is a very nice boot so I can't really give it anything less than 5 stars based on the quality of construction and styling. Unfortunately I have Morton's Neuroma in both feet that I wear orthotics to alleviate so I need a wider toe box. I have a pair of Clarks Senner Place shoes and from the pictures, this boot looked like it was essentially that shoe in boot form. The difference in the width isn't much (probably 3/16th of an inch) but it is on the outer edge of the toe box and squeezes my foot just enough to cause some pain after about an hour of wear. It isn't as bad with a thinner sock and I got these at such a great price that I'll probably keep them for occasional wear. On the plus side I also ordered the Darian Heath model boot directly from Clarks and it fits wonderfully. It's a little more industrial looking in style but still a great boot for every day casual wear. I can't give the Senner Ave boot a bad rating because I have bad feet but I can't say I love it either so I'm giving it 4 starts. I would recommend this boot to anyone that didn't need the wider toe box like I do.

Boots are slightly large, but I expected that from the reviews here at Amazon.
I wanted to wait until I had worn these boots for a while before posting a review.I can say, after wearing them for weeks now, they are great!I've got wide feet...wide to the point that half of the shoes marked as "Wide" are still a bit narrow for my feet. These Clark's Senner Ave boots give me ample room and zero pressure on my feet. I can't tell you how welcome it is to have shoes that aren't squeezing my feet all day.I am tempted to buy another pair now to replace these when they wear out.

Mismatched sizing and minimal support
I bought these for overseas travel and was hoping to have a single pair of shoes that were sturdy and comfortable for walking around all day but were dressy enough to be passable in a decent restaurant. Unfortunately, the sizing of the pair I purchased was a little off. The right-hand shoe fit as expected, but the left-hand shoe had an excessively wide heel area and the back of my foot slid around in it. I'm 48 years old and have probably owned several hundred pairs of shoes in my lifetime, and have never experienced this problem. My feet are both the same size, so the issue is definitely with the shoes. I'd say that all-in-all, these shoes are sort-of OK, but just barely. Even for the properly-fitting right shoe, ankle and arch support are pretty minimal, and after a day of walking around my feet felt fatigued. Disappointing.

Chinese-made shoes can't compare to my 10 year old Clarks
I take a 12W shoe, and have flat feet. My two pairs of ten-year-old Clarks boots need replacing. They've had the soles replaced once and heels replaced so many times I lost count. So I was shopping for a new pair. These chukkas are less of a disappointment when I first bought them (I bumped the review up to 3 stars now. I put arch supports in initially, and that was what hurt my feet. They have a roomy fit, which is better for us Widefoots than a tight one. These are made in CHINA like everything else these days, and do not have the same Made in USA craftsmanship and quality as my beloved ten-year-olds..The inside leather around where the shoelaces are tied came with stitching flaws, I can live with that, but shows that lack of Craftsmanship. They are true chukka style after all, so there is very little arch and ankle support (; -------------------- Jimny
