Satisfied!
This elite version is much better than the clearpoint version. It is sturdier and more comfortable to use. Worth the price!

Even BETTER than the Papermate Clearpoint mechanical pencil, which we already loved!
Finally! We have found the perfect and affordable mechanical pencil for students. My kids are in 4th and 6th grade, and we began using the Papermate Clearpoint pencils about 3 months ago. They have held up to HEAVY use, and have been refilled with replacement leads several times, with no signs of the mechanics wearing out or being defective. We originally had a 3 pack that we purchased from the office supply department at our local Target store. It was money well-spent. We printed their names on labels from our label printer, so they could keep track of them in their often chaotic classroom environment.I was worried about using the thinner 0.5 lead size, but the kids seem to prefer it. It allows them to write smaller and doodle in more detail, when given the opportunity. My son's penmanship seems to be more deliberate and concise, when he uses this pencil, compared to a traditional pencil that needs to be sharpened. I'm not sure why.A few days ago, my daughter was distraught when her pencil went missing, and started planning how she was going to earn the money to replace it. I'm so grateful for Amazon Prime shipping, especially in situations like this one. The ease and convenience of getting exactly what we need, within a few days, has us completely spoiled. I ordered this set on Wednesday, and they arrived on Friday. Perfect!NOW, regarding the difference between our original purchased item, and the Clearpoint ELITE that is listed here:This pencil has metal parts, compared to the all-plastic Clearpoint pencil. This was a big WOW factor, when we opened the package. The kids were impressed with the slightly heavier feel of their new pencils, and couldn't wait to start using them.

Everything you could want in a mechanical pencil.
I'm kind of an avid mechanical pencil collector. Perhaps 10 years ago I created a list of features I'd like to see. There was nothing at the time, and since then, only 2 other pencils before this one had them. The company's own marketing copy doesn't properly list them all.* Retractible, conical, metal tip that doesn't grab the paper so that you never have to advance the lead mid-word.* Side-click advance; two clicks are just right.* Long, standard diameter eraser that doesn't tend to retract when you push on it - and doesn't advance the lead because of the side-click.* Clear barrel so you can see lead supply.* Nice contour where you grip it.* Sturdy metal pocket clip.* Slight spring in the lead tip to protect the lead and internals from modest impacts.I've used earlier versions of the Clearpoint, and my chief complaint was that the barrel would crack where the cutout was for the eraser portion and the clip was fragile. Those portions are thicker and redesigned on the elite model. As long as the inlaid grippy material holds up over time, this is basically the perfect general use (non-stencil) mechanical pencil.
