One of the best North Node books available
Very comprehensive. The author does not take the shortcut I have seen in other books on this subject by giving the same interpretation for the sign and house. For example most North Node books will give an interpretation for "North Node in Taurus OR the second house." Those are not the same thing at all. This book gives very good descriptions for signs, houses, and aspects, as well as other factors that lend themselves to a more complete understanding of the nodes. Her attention to the polarities are particularly good and the nodes are very much about polarities. The author's background as a psychotherapist and a student of Carl Jung gives her analysis more depth. Based on the quality of her work I also scheduled a reading with her. Highly recommended.

Takes a long time to get to the Nodes
I bought two books on the nodes. One by Jan Spiller and this one by Elizabeth Spring. The one by Jan Spiller was much more straightforward and easier to read. But, I got more out of the Elizabeth Spring book as far as my personal chart. However, my main issue with Spring's book is that it is not easy to follow. It is very clear that she is a psychologist and that she's an academic. This book uses a language that other academics and psychologists will relate to, but John Doe on the street will have trouble getting through this book. I kept wanting to skip whole chapters and get to the meat of the story. I had to force myself to go back and read everything.Spring doesn't get to the North Nodes until the end of the book. Sure, there is useful material in the book on Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. I highlighted a couple of things in those sections, but what I really wanted to learn about was the North Nodes. The book also shares a lot of her personal story. That's what about 70% of the book is about. And, it's not translated in a way that easily relates to the north nodes. If you've read her blog, you'll find a lot of the articles in the blog are the same material that is listed in the actual North Node chapter in the book. So, this might be a repeat of information for those who are subscribers to the blog.It is obvious that Elizabeth Spring knows a lot about psychology and about the North Nodes, but I would have loved to have more detailed info on the nodes rather than a book that is mostly about other things and mentions the nodes in the intro and a couple chapters at the end.The other issue for me is more of a personal one. I didn't get much for my personal chart out of either book. As a libra rising with a North Node in libra in the first house (ruled by Aries), there is no clear cut answer to the mystery of my North Node. My North Node is in a house ruled by my South Node. So my situation is more of a weird blend of Libra and Aries as opposed to what most people reading this book will encounter. I think the book will be more useful for doing other people's charts. If you decide to purchase this book, purchase it along with another North Node book or purchase it because you like the work of Elizabeth Spring. But, if this is your only book on the North Node, you might be disappointed with how little is actually covered regarding the North Node. I think the book has value, but perhaps the publisher should have given it a different title to reveal what material is actually discussed in the book.

Understand family dynamics with the north node, which is clearly detailed in this book
Elizabeth Spring is a thoughtful writer who balances detailed astrological concepts with meanings and interpretations that can be applied to your life, highlighting the path with her personal experience with these concepts. I first found her when I was trying to understand some family dynamics, trying to understand the north node's role in some very painful family issues, and she kindly responded to my email with a very helpful synapsis of my family dynamics. I bought the book to learn more about the north node and its link to our path of destiny. After reading what pertained to my natal chart, I read the entire book, which gave me a clearer understanding of other family members and my children. I really like this book and it's a permanent part of my astrology library.

I really enjoyed reading this book
I really enjoyed reading this book! The truth is that we are always growing and with astrology there is always something going on with the planets! What I enjoyed about this book is she explains the "possibility" of change. We always have choice in how we go about growth. She explains what we are moving away from--the south node and what we want to aspire to--the north node with creative possibilities for self growth and change.

Like listening to a good and wise astrology friend
Found the writing to be engaging. It spoke to the novice as well as to the more experienced astrology students like me. Received the information from a more visceral than intellectual place. Could just feel the rhythm of the cycles described, having experienced many of the outer planet transits covered in the book, Wonderful volume to which I will continue to refer. Highly recommend it!

Not for the beginner
This book was written like a story rather than a recipe book that you can only search your sign to read. In fact, I found it was hard to follow and get all the ideas when I am the new guy in this realm. I think it works for you if you have known well about planets, signs and their descriptions in each house. Besides, you need to research in your natal chart before reading this book.

A direction finder in life
Excellent book for discovering the purpose and direction of your life path. Even non astrologers could find this of interest. I found that when I studied the charts of family members, the descriptions of their north node was pretty much right on to their personality. A good addition to the library for study books on the North Node.

North Node Astrology - Soooo interesting!
The Nodes were something I really hadn't thought much about until I came across Elizabeth's Spring's Facebook page, which was explaining the principles of the North Node in the Natal Chart .[...]I have always been interested in my Natal Chart - it seemed to me that it could be used in the same way that sailors use tide timetables and chart of the seas showing rocks and safe harbours to guide us through life. The connection between astrology and Jung's work also interested me deeply, so I bought the book and was hooked from that point on. The comments on the my nodal aspects in the book (Gemini/Sagittarius) rang true and set me studying them more deeply. I thoroughly recommend this book, and if you are a beginner to astrology, have a look at her new book"Lifting the Veil; Becoming Your Own Best Astrologer" as it helps to put the Nodes in context.

Well-written astrology book seems to offer me a sort of retreat. I even have not known about the node issue before reading this book though, this book guided me quite well where I can feel relived. Those who have struggled with their lives to understand why desperately could hear helpful voices here.Delight moment to look back on the life that I passed by.

A good beginner's book.
The two last chapters were the only ones that brought something new and interesting to me. They show a deep understanding of what astrology should be about and how a good astrologer should approach his/her trade. Excellent stuff. The rest of the book is a re-hash of well known concepts and analysis of the Nodes.
