Steel Design

Straight to the point
I bought the paperback version from here first. I'd rate that book 3 stars due to the poor quality of the physical book which has print defects and would not stay open unless you were holding it open. I bought the hardcover version after a page fell out of the softcover version. The hardcover version is built with the quality you'd expect from a textbook. That aside, the contents of the book are top notch. The author gets straight to the point without overbearing theory. The examples are plentiful and well strategized to cover the "worst-case" scenarios.

Step by step examples
This book contains good step by step solutions that really helped me learn the material. Of course, a Structural Design in Metals class requires the AISC Steel Manual, but this text book is a great resource.

Great and easy textbook.
I really like this textbook. Most of the material is straight forward. Just be careful when it makes references to the ASCI to make sure you have the correct edition it asks for.

Book for class
I needed this required book for my steel design class at U of MD. I like the book. The explanations are clear and the example problems are clear enough to work through to help me understand the concepts.

Overall, pretty decent
Used the 5th edition in a 400 level steel design class. Overall pretty decent. The material is mostly example problems and homework problems. I learn best from doing, so this method works for me. Knocked it a star since there are still references to the old edition of AISC Steel Design (you must have the industry standard reference book, the text book by itself will not gain you anything - this is absolute, you must have both).
