I initially purchased this flashlight to help me hunt down any unfortunate "accidents" my cat might have left behind, but it has proven to be so much more versatile than I anticipated. The 100 LED bulbs emit a powerful UV light that effortlessly illuminates hidden stains and messes, even in broad daylight. The 30-feet flood effect is incredibly effective, allowing me to cover large areas with ease. I've used it on carpets, upholstery, and even hardwood floors, and it never fails to reveal hidden messes that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Not only is this flashlight perfect for pet owners, but it's also a valuable tool for anyone in the cleaning or hospitality industry. It's well-built and feels durable, so I have no doubt it will withstand frequent use for years to come.

The iLumen8 UV glasses are a great match for this light and are available from Amazon. I bought the UV Beast when I found a bark scorpion in my bedroom. I actually picked him up, not realizing that it was a live scorpion. Once I saw what it was, I dropped him back on the floor. He immediately ran into a pile of clothes. I dug him out and dealt with him harshly. I was very lucky not to get stung. I found my Pentagonlight S2 UV that is 8 years old. After giving my house a good inspection, I realized that I needed something more powerful. I bought a Beast because of the great Amazon reviews and a Nitecore CU6. The Beast came 2 days later (Prime), was packaged well and is a sturdy build. It has the right amount of "heft" that proves it is a quality build but not too heavy. The Beast is strictly a UV light, there is no white light setting. The Nitecore CU6 has white, red, green, blue and UV LEDs. The Beast, like my Pentagonlight uses a 390nm UV LED array with 51 LEDs. This light is great for finding scorpions or checking to make sure the maid cleaned the toilet properly. It is really bright with good throw. You don't have to get up 2 inches from the scorpion to see it. If your primary need is to verify the authenticity of paper money, the Nitecore CU6 is a better choice with it"s 365nm UV LED. I took some pics with newer US $100 and $20 to show the differences. The first pic on the left shows the flashlights (Beast on the left, the Nitecore CU6 in the middle and the Pentagonlight on the right). If you look at the picture of the Beast on Amazon, you may think that it looks as big as a Maglite. It is not that big. Pic 2 from the left is the Beast shining on a $100 bill. I travel and stay in various motels and hotels. Since I've offen wondered if my favorite places are as clean as I think they are. After using a small weak light, I researched much and decided on this light It is bright enough to show any nastiness, and the batteries last a long time. It has the quality of military specs, or equivalent. Rubber "o" rings make it water tight. The quality of this light is amazing. The switch is rubber coated and easy to push on. A quality light that is a great value for the money.

I really like the UV Beast. I live in Vegas and over the last decade or so we have killed over a thousand Bark Scorpions. Our record night was 78. We have used powerful ordinary flashlights and a half a dozen different black lights. These are very bad critters. My wife has been stung and it was a horrible experience. They have neurotoxin in their venom. Her sting involved paramedics and all night convulsions that led to muscle soreness for days like she had worked out too hard and pain in the sting point that lasted for a week. So I have declared war on bark scorpions. The UV Beast is by far the brightest scorpion hunting flashlight I have ever tried. Most neighborhoods in Vegas have block walls. This gives scorpions hundreds of little cracks to crawl into and hide. With the Beast if even the slightest amount of their legs or pinchers are sticking out, you can see them. This is easily missed with less powerful lights. The Beast makes scorpions glow with a slight green tint. This is important because we have a couple of Pit Bulls that tear up their dog toys and we have hundreds of white poly stuffing around the yard at times. With other lights it was difficult to distinguish these and other bits of paper and bird poop from the glow of a scorpion. This causes a false alarm in your head. With the Beast I can ignore anything that glows pure white because the green tint of the scorpion glow is so noticeable. Another advantage of the Beast is how far away you can detect a scorpion. I have spotted them across the street. I will say without a doubt that I miss fewer scorpions with the Beast than with any other light I have used. There are three disadvantages of the Beast that kept me from giving it five stars. The first is with a fresh set of batteries when it is its brightest, it gets warm. My hunts can last a half an hour. We have a big yard and I often check out my neighbors as well. LED lights are the coolest running bulbs, but this beast has 100 of them and they get warm and that warmth is conducted by the aluminum body. Don’t get me wrong, this is not burn you hot, but when it is 100 degrees at 10:00 PM here you don’t need any more warmth. The other thing that warm tells me is this puppy is using a lot of the battery's power. Given the amount of use I give this thing, in less than a week it is noticeably dimmer. That said, even in its relatively dim state, it is brighter than any of my other UV lights. But, in heavy usage if you want to keep it running at its brightest state, buy big bricks of AAs. The last thing is, sometimes it is too bright for its own good. My method of killing scorpions is catch and smash. I use really long tweezers that I bought on Amazon. I grab them then hold them to a rock and manipulate the point of the tweezers to smash their little heads. That way I avoid using poison to kill them. With the beast on four occasions when the light is that close to the target, they react to it. The UV Beast is so bright you can see it in full light, well I think the scorpions can see it too. So I carry a can of scorpion poison and if I think they are in a position where they can easily escape into a crack I shoot them with the spray before they can get away. As a serious scorpion hunter, I wouldn’t want to be without the Beast. It isn’t perfect, but it is really damn good.

Prior to purchasing the uvBeast, I was looking for scorpions with another light I had purchased. It worked okay, but the beam was so narrow that it was time consuming to sweep the area I needed to. I'd find plenty of scorpions, but was out for almost 45 minutes sweeping a foot wide section at a time. With the uvBeast, the beam is so intense scorpions don't just glow, they GLOW! The flood effect of the uvBeast has also revealed the little buggers when I'm looking down at the bottom of the wall and they try and escape across the top. Did I mention scorpions really GLOW with the uvBeast? I've now also been finding them in the rocks, with just a section of claw or tail hanging out. There's so much contrast to the uvBeast beam that it's tough not to see them. The uvBeast can be blinding, so beware. The beam just doesn't appear all that bright, but it is. If it catches something that really reflects, you get to see just how bright it really is. I say beware, because the reflected light can hurt your eyes and make a mess of your night vision. After a couple of uses, you get used to the things in the house or backyard that really reflect and you learn to inspect the areas with the flood area, instead of direct. Nice problem to have! :) I've recommended uvBeast to my friends who have also had the misfortune of having scorpions and they can't believe they were using their former cheesy lights. If you're using it to find pet stains, get ready to be grossed out! the uvBeast has no problem making pet stains glow in ambient light. Funny how you can find pet stains, when you don't have pets! :(

This is one Big, Bad, UV Flashlight!!!!! I've got a couple of little dogs...one of whom suffers from periodic UTIs...which pretty much means that every morning, on waking up, I walk around my bedroom, looking for suspicious damp spots, on the carpet that need to be cleaned up. Periodically, I wait till it's dark, and then walk around with a teeny tiny little blacklight, looking for spots that dried before I saw them, and tackle those, as well--but using the teeny flashlight is tedious, and it's not always accurate on all surfaces (ie, it's not very accurate on a fuzzy dog bed, although it's pretty good, on the indoor outdoor carpeting on my floor...and it's not even remotely accurate on a highly pattered oriental rug), so I was looking for something that did a better job. Which led me to this bad boy. I'll admit it: I was skeptical. Was it REALLY going to make that much difference? Plus, it seemed awfully expensive for a FLASHLIGHT... Well, it DID make a difference. No lie--it really DOES work in daylight. (Yeah, naturally it's better at night--but I could see more with it during the daylight, than I can at night, with my other, tiny one.) And at night? I don't know whether to be thrilled that it found so many suspicious spots on my carpet--or disgusted. It is SUPER easy to tell the difference between those areas that are permanently "different" from unstained carpet, due to them having been stained, then cleaned (repeatedly)...and new stains, that actually need to be cleaned. My UTI pup is what I call a "traveling pee-er"--meaning she pees while traveling in sinuous S shapes, leaving tiny droplets of urine beyond the initial "puddle"...and unless the stain was fresh, my tiny LED didn't always spot the tiny drops--which, left alone, over time, create a nasty "ghost of pee" smell--an elusive, nasty scent--that is noticeable on damp days for a few seconds at a time. With the UVBeast, I found wayward, untreated drops all over the place, traveling off of already treated areas...and, after treating them, I've actually been through several damp days without a single "ghost of pee" scent at all--SCORE!!!! Further...the UVBeast is able to show stains on other surfaces my tiny light couldn't handle...like...furry dog beds, and my patterned oriental rugs. Even better--it clearly differentiates between different TYPES of stains, which has meant that when both my dogs suffered from gastroenteritis, I was able to use the light to tell whether what they threw up was bile based, or foam--which was important information to provide to their vet--and wasn't something I could readily tell in all areas with stains that had already dried. In fact--even after washing a stained bed, I could still clearly locate the areas that had had bile-based vomitus on them, due to the fact that although they looked fine to the naked eye, under the UVBeast, they glowed a malignant looking orange-brown. (Enzymatic cleaners helped clear up that, as well. I won't go into details about the hefty feel of it, quality of construction, etc, since other reviewers already have, but I'll confirm it with a, "Yeah, what they said." (And I'll add that the seller is doing his best to set himself apart from the general rank and file, by following up with multiple emails, making sure you're satisfied with the product--even to the extent of offering a nice extra which I won't get into, here.) (But it's nice, trust me. ;)) In short--if you've got dogs or (presumably) cats, and you've also got carpet or rugs--do yourself a favor, and BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT!!!!! You'll most likely be unpleasantly surprised by what your pets have been up to without you realizing it...but at least once you know about it, you can tackle it all with enzymatic cleaners. ;) (Don't even bother with the teeny tiny lights that are what come up by default when you search for blacklights for urine detection. They DO find some stuff--they're not worthless--but they're more work, and don't find as much, or as easily. Spend the extra now--because you will probably need to in the end, anyway. :)

I'll start off with stating that this light is powerful. The broadcast of the UV wavelength travels quite far; more than expected. You can even feel the "warmth" from the emitting UV light from about 2 ft away. It makes objects glow, or fluoresce, in daylight. A thorough cleaning of the bottom kitchen cabinets was quickly carried-out once I received the unit :(. This was not the reason I purchased the light, but was an added bonus. The main reason I purchased this light was to properly address spots that a previously owned cat had urinated on in the basement. Sadly, I did not locate any spots in little to no ambient light. The occurrences of the urinating was about 6 months ago, so I fully expected to see where the little bastard did his evil deeds. The urination hunting effort will be revisited and I plan to update this review with my findings. I do own a fluorescent UV light and will do some comparisons against this light, as I feel it may be due to the nm wavelength range of this unit. So, as much as I like this light's output and build quality, it did not perform the main function for which it was purchased... so far. I have rated it three stars to start for the previously positive stated points. The manufacturer appears to be quite interested in my opinion of the quality of this light, as I received emails requesting a review and/or to address raised concerns, so that is a good start for support. We'll see where that gets me... Stayed tuned in for my follow-up review.

I purchased this light to assist in my never-ending quest to keep my scorpion population at bay in my back yard and surrounding neighborhood. All the other lights on the market are fine if you want to check for fake currency, validate ID cards and seek out cat pee on your carpet. If you need a light that approaches "industrial" strength to use outdoors to cover larger areas, this light is the one for you. Amazingly powerful UV light. Would definitely purchase UV protective glasses to use with it, because it's probably not safe to have any prolonged exposure to it... but it really, really gets the job done. I have purchased many UV flashlights, and this trumps them all. You will notice that there are many "51 LED" and "100 LED" lights on the market. I can assure you that "More LEDs" does NOT equal a brighter flashlight. My assumption is that they are all made in the same place (China!) but get branded with different companies who purchase them wholesale and then re-sell them on Amazon. This particular flashlight may have arrived to Amazon in the same manner, but this one sticks out. The "Scorpinator" flashlight on the market at home depot is maybe 25% as bright as this light. I have bought UV headlamps, "51 LED" and "100 LED" flashlights, and have amassed a nice collection of UV flashlight disappointments that are all sitting in a drawer... most of which claimed to be the "brightest UV lamp ever!!!" ... but they are not even close. I purchased a Streamlight 3C-UV flashlight thinking that the added power of the 3 C batteries, and the well known "Streamlight" name would deliver... not even close. Another $40 flashlight in the drawer with the others. My top performer (until this light) was a 3 D-cell mag-light conversion from scorpionhunter-com website... but that one is no longer available. So, if you need a powerful UV light to search large outdoor areas in your yard for scorpions, or better yet, search the far perimeter wall of your neighbors yard for scorpions, than look no further...
