I have not used it yet but it appears to be quite robust for the money. It is to be used on a boat trailer, so I striped it down and greased all of the shafts, as it is assembled dry.

Worked so much more better than the old one

This winch is not the one shown in the pictures.It does not have the lever and spring shown on it's left side (the side opposite to the winding handle).Also, when the handle is put on the front spindle - the one that gives the highest gear - it catches on the rear spindle.Also, the handle should fit on the rear spindle - the one that gives the lowest gear - but that spindle is threaded for a different nut to the front spindle - ie the nut provided won't fit on it. The threads are at a markedly different angle.

Plus - its very heavy and sturdy.Minus - The winding handle only just gets past the post for the other gear setting, meaning that it can only work if you have the handle very loose, at the very end of the winding bolt.- You have to take it apart to bolt it to anything.- The one delivered is actually difference to the picture, it does not have the ratchet release handle with the spring on the side - the ratchet works on a tiny spring on the inside, next to some washers, so its very difficult to get that spring to work right after taking it apart to screw the winch into its new home.

Very robust, quick delivery but a set of instructions would have been useful.

Gear manufacture could have been a beater, but generally a satisfactory manufacture and a sensibly price
