At time I was using too much and it locked my hair down. Now I've got the right amount and applied with fingers lightly through my hair it works great without making it like a rock. If you want a product that will work and smells great in hair that is out of control this is it. Just remember less is more!

I have dark thick straight hair which I cut short during my teenage years and early twenties. It was easy to maintain and only needed very little gel if any to style my hair. Starting in my late twenties, I grew my hair longer and I have experimented through 10-20 types of hair products to style my hair and hold its shape during the day. Some worked great after I had my hair freshly cut, but didn't hold to the task after 2-3 weeks. Others would not hold throughout the day, and my hair would flatten at the end of the day...or worst the product would already start flaking!Three years ago, I changed hairdresser and got my first encounter with Johnny B's hair products. It was not Fuddy, but Mode. I really like Mode at first, but it did not hold through the weeks after I got my hair cut. So I kept experimenting with other products.Last year, the hair salon brought new products from Johnny B, and we tried Fuddy, and it has been the only product I have used since then. And I plan on using it as long as it is available on Amazon (hopefully forever). Fuddy styles my hair the way I want, and leaves matte finish, which I prefer. It hold through the day...and the next day...with no to minimal white flakes! It does get sticky to the hands after application of the product, but washing your hands with soap takes care of it. I really like that I can purchase the 16oz container for cheap on Amazon, and it lasts me a full year. This is the second container I have ordered so far. Very well worth the money!

I have curly hair and with this gel I’m able to slick my hair back without baby hairs comming up.

Very disappointed in the 12oz matte gray volume of jonnny b i just received. i used to pay $16-20 for a 20oz megasize clear container with yellow lettering and grey cap. The consistency of the fuddy was truly amazing, it was tacky to the fingers, but clumpy so it was easy to work with. Amazon has been selling fuddy product for quite some time and it hasn't been the same. The fuddy is more gel like, slimy and sticky, and you need much more of it to have the same matte hold effect. This new gel formula is more like the mode product, and not what I bargained for. Yes, the cool 'saw dust' smell is still intact, but the consistency just sucks. Its messier and i wish they would go back to the old formula. For whatever its worth when i purchased the old fuddy from a salon or private vendor (no this is not an endorsement) it came factory sealed in plastic and the fuddy consistency was the original. Now it appears the market including amazon is flooded with the cheap jelly version. I did order another white container from ebay and hoping it is the real deal. Very upset Johnny B!! wish your products were consistent in the stream of commerce and they are not!!
