JUST figured out how to set burrs nicely
It's about the lowest quality you can get away with, I think. But that's the reason to buy it. Lots of novices think they have to have the most expensive tools. This one is cheap. But it works. If you're setting brass rivets (or even softer copper), there's a steep learning curve. It has little to do with the tool. It has a lot to do with technique. And the only way to figure it out is make a lot of mistakes first. It won't bre the tool's fault. It will be you don't know how close to clip the rivet to the burr. It will be you're not sure how low to dome. It will be because you have to figure out if you hold it in one place or rotate it through many taps. And how hard you should be tapping it -- for that rivet material, from that manufacturer, in that specific size. Guess what? You can use this tool just fine for learning that. I did. Took a while, but I did.

Works as intended
Simple tool. Easy to use. Works fine with the right sized rivets. The video instructions that Amazon provided on how to set a river was helpful too. In sum, does what it’s supposed to do without any issues.

it does set the bur on the rivet like it is supposed to
This rivet setter is alright. I wish they made it without the rounding dish on the head. In my opinion, they should be two separate tools. However, it does set the bur on the rivet like it is supposed to.

Essential for great looking rivets.
I used this for copper rivets and it worked perfectly. After setting the burr I found it’s important to trim the rivet to about two millimeters before peening. A little practice with them at will help make great looking rivets. I found this tool essential for getting these right on a leather repair.
