Edge Supply Birch 3/4 inch X 50 ft Roll of Plywood Edge Banding – Pre-glued Real Wood Veneer Edging – Flexible Veneer Edging – Easy Application Iron-on Edge Banding for Furniture Restoration

I have been using iron-on edge banding tape since the 80s. My father owned a construction company and I used to do custom cabinets, etc. This iron on tape works perfectly and the glue adheres just like it is supposed to! I have read some of the comments and noticed some users had a "bubbling" issue with the tape. The reason is user error! They installed it wrong and then were disappointed with the results. To properly install it and not get any issues with adhesion, make sure the surface to iron the tape onto is smooth and possibly even sand the edge, make sure your iron surface is clean, and set the heat to just below max. The next thing to remember is to burnish the tape after ironing. I use a small piece of scrap wood with a smooth edge and apply pressure while rubbing the wood back and forth on the freshly ironed tape. This sets the glue into the wood fibers of the plywood you're applying the tape to. Don't use the iron to "press" the melted glue into the wood fibers of the plywood edge, this will only cause the tape to move around a bunch and possibly misaligned with your plywood edge. After removing/trimming the excess tape material from the plywood, sand the edge to remove any glue that squeezes out from the burnishing. If you notice an area that the banding tape didn't seem to adhere to, spot reheat it and press it with the burnishing stick again. Be careful to not keep reheating the glue, it will loose effectiveness after a while. Do not remove and then try to reapply the tape as the glue will not hold properly. I tend to approximately pull off the amount of tape I need before ironing, just folding the edge tape back and forth will cause it to separate. This way you're not dealing with the entire roll and the curling of the tape. Makes it easier to install. When painting the plywood and tape edge, use your paint sparingly, only apply a light first prime coat. Most paint used today is water based and putting water on wood causes swelling. (Putting a lot of water, or a product containing a lot of water, like paint, on the wood can cause the swelling of the wood edge banding tape.) Sand the prime coat and then apply paint as you normally would. This will allow the wood edge banding tape to get a seal coat before getting drenched in wet paint for full coverage. I have included pictures of a custom closet I am currently building for my wife. You will notice that the edge banding on the plywood is adhered very well and no swelling, bubbling occurred. The thickness of the banding tape seems to be the same as it was back in the 80s. The size of 7/8" is what is needed for 3/4" plywood. Do not get 3/4" tape for a 3/4" plywood. You will not get the tape to perfectly match the plywood edge. 3/4" banding tape is for 5/8" material, 7/8" banding tape is for 3/4" material. You need to trim off and sand the edge of the excess banding tape to get a perfect match with the plywood thickness and appear to be a solid piece of wood vs plywood. The banding tape sands quickly and easily. I would highly recommend this banding tape! It works perfectly when installed correctly. I am not finished with the closet (obviously) and only have the minimal amount of paint on the new wood and banding tape. Go ahead and enlarge the pictures to see the quality of the tape and its adhesion.

This is pretty good. Idk if it’s GREAT, but I don’t have anything to compare it to. This is my first time using it and I heated it up with an iron (after cutting to size). Sometimes it would stick, other times it would not. I used wood glue and painter’s tape on the pieces that didn’t adhere well. I am confident with wood glue, but I’m a little concerned about the longevity of the product (and if it’ll hold up over time). But it’s attractive and I plan to paint it.

This is good quality edge banding. Pay close attention to the width measurement of the edge banding VS the width needed for your project. This edge banding is not ideal for 3/4” projects. If your an expert, you may be able to pull a 3/4” project off, but there is absolutely zero hang off (see photo). My project is 1/2” MDF I will be veneering in lays to for use as samples. This edge banding works perfect and the corners glue up seamlessly. Some reviews complain the glued together pieces are obvious or spaced too close together, making the edge banding difficult to work with, or unusable. 1.) All edge banding this length will have many glued together pieces. There will never be a 250 foot tree cut and milled specifically to create edge banding. 2.) Where this edge banding is glued together, it is a very wide zig zag, about 1” (see photo), and not obvious until you put the banding to your face and search for it. In the photo you can see the glue up on the raw edge banding. I had to get in some good lighting and tilt the banding at an angle to make the glue up obvious. After the edge banding has been glued & lightly sanded with a flat block (emphasis on LIGHTLY), using 400, 600, or 800 grit sand paper, its impossible to spot (see photo with my finger pointing to a glue spot that cannot be seen). The only issue you may have with the glue section being problematic is if you do not use something between your iron and the edge banding. If you apply banding with a lot of pressure, as with all banding, some glue may rise up to the surface. This can make the surface just sticky enough to catch film or dirt off of the iron...the dirt On the iron is the problem, not the edge banding. Recommend using wax paper between iron and banding for glue ups. When the wax paper has been used several times, replace it with a fresh piece. 3.) I measured multiple areas to find the length between glue ups. My roll had glue ups, each one exactly as shown in the photo, around every 4 feet, pretty standard for this size roll. All in all, this is good quality edge banding at an exceptional value. The price of this edge banding will buy you 25’-50’ at the big box stores. RECOMMENDED

Great product, ironed on the edge and was a perfect fit for my plywood. Finished off the cabinet. Caution, once ironed on, I won’t pull off! Get it right the first time.

It's not the best product out there but at this price this is great, glues down pretty nice, almost perfect with 3/4 plywood, i glue one side flush and just trim on one side, make sure to sand it if you're going to stain it

The colour is very nice and consistent, as is the grain. The glue is very evenly applied and is a dream to use with a hot iron. My only downside is the packaging was just a plastic bag with no protection, resulting in the first 2m (6 ft) or so being unusable. As shown in my last photo, the veneer takes a variety of stains, waxes and finishes really well. I am exceptionally happy with the quality of this product.

Excellent product

The Edge Supply Birch edge banding matched my birch plywood cabinets very well, blending in seamlessly. The glue seems to provide a strong and secure hold, though I’ll need to see how it holds up over time. I haven’t tried staining it yet, but I don’t anticipate any issues given the quality of the material. Overall, it’s a great product, and I’m happy with how it’s worked so far!

Sorta ok, but so much waste as it's not a continuous 50ft, it's random lengths taped together.
