BEST purchase I’ve ever made.
This will probably go down as the best purchase of my life. As a woman who struggles with PCOS, I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with facial hair for many years now. I’m not talking peach fuzz or even light brown hair either, but dark coarse hair in the style of a man’s facial hair. Let’s just say scarves, turtle necks, lots of make up, shaving, plucking, electrolysis, avoiding overnight events and keeping out of direct sunlight when talking close up with people has been a big part of my life. It definitely leaves you in a state of hiding and the sheer amount of money you spend managing it is ridiculous. On top of all that, I have actually had IPL professionally and spent thousands.I had tremendous success with the professional IPL treatments, and for the first time in my life experienced freedom from hair removal! My face was clear of hair with the exception of a few small areas that needed up-keep (totally manageable and not very noticeable). So I was very happy. However after having two babies, new hair came back with a vengeance and it was worse than ever before. I found with the expenses of pregnancy and toddlers, I could no longer afford the expensive professional IPL treatments. I decided to give up and embrace turtle necks in summer once again. But then I stumbled upon at home IPL products like this and felt a new glimmer of hope. After researching for months I settled on this product, the Remington I-Light. Of all the products I could have gone with, this one seemed to have the most reviews for success removing coarse facial hair in both men and women. With much trepidation, I bought it.And it was the BEST amazon purchase (or purchase ever) that I’ve made. Even after one treatment I noticed results. After two, DRAMATIC results. My face was smooth (in areas that had been so thick with hair even shaving couldn’t hide it). Additionally, like many reviewers say the hair comes back in thinner if it grows back at all (a nice perk). I’m getting ready to do a third treatment next week and I’d imagine it will only continue to amaze me. To put it in perspective, professional treatments run anywhere between $200-300 for a full chin, neck, lip and cheek treatment (full face basically). In some regions I’d imagine it’s even more expensive than that! So the fact you can buy this product for essentially the price of one treatment is a no brainer.A few details to know going in:1. I do have the ideal complexion and hair color for this device (fair skin, dark coarse hair) - if you have darker skin or lighter hair - it may not work as well or even work at all.2. I follow the instructions, waiting two weeks between treatments.3. I use it at the HIGHEST setting and it IS uncomfortable. A rubber band snap or bee sting is a good description. Icing beforehand helps and DONT drink caffeinated beverages before hand (a tip from a professional IPL specialist I know) - as it makes nerve endings more sensitive. Taking an Ib profen before hand can take the edge off as well (but obviously check with a doctor about that).3. If you smell a bit of burning this is the hair being treated, especially if it’s not been shaved close enough to the skin beforehand. It’s an unpleasant smell but not harmful to anything but the hair (which is the point). HOWEVER, going over the same area too many times can result in a burn blister, so plot your course carefully (the burns are very minor when they do happen, they heal quickly - but can easily be avoided if you are careful).4. The first treatment I did resulted in a lot of red bumps and irritation (not burns, but ingrown hair style bumps) - and the hair seemed worse for a few days. I was very nervous but waited it out - and luckily the hair began to fall out. Also the redness subsided. It can take up to 12 days for the hair to push itself out and it CAN appear to be growing thicker during this time (don’t lose hope, it’s part of the process). With each treatment, less redness, quicker results.5. Even with a nearly smooth face, I know the reality is that I will need to do touch ups monthly otherwise some of the hair will come back. So it’s important to know that realistically using the laser will be a part of your life long term. I’ll take a monthly treatment any day over daily (or twice daily!) shaving and tweezing!6. I have observed this product to do as good or better a job than the professional treatments I had (and I was quite happy with those treatments too!). I don’t necessarily think it’s because it’s as powerful a machine - but rather I know my own face so well I know where to focus my efforts - so in that way it’s such a better experience. Less embarrassing too!All in all, I cannot speak highly enough of this product. The only downside I can see is the discomfort (but well worth it). I suppose the way the device is shaped can make your wrist sore after awhile particularly at difficult angles - but that is a knit pick.Everyone is so different and I can’t guarantee my results will be yours - but if you are a woman hiding your face from the world - you have nothing to lose! I hope you give it a whirl!

WOW. Hair Falling Out After First Treatment
Hello, world. Here is a photo of my ARMPIT HAIR falling out eleven days after first treatment with the iLight (or maybe it's my pube hair, guess you'll never know!)It's strange to see hair slide out of the follicle with zero resistance, and without that bulbous squishy root at the end. This little device is amazing. For this to work, the treatment area must be completely shaved down to the skin--not epilated or tweezed or waxed, etc. The root must be intact because the IPL ignites the subdermal hair and root, which prevents regrowth by cauterizing the surrounding follicle and stem cells. You also MUST NOT spend time in the sun beforehand--instructions say six weeks. Any existing UV damage (tan) on your skin can compromise it's integrity against intense broad-spectrum light, even if your skin easily "passes" the skin tone checker. I also hear that areas treated with retinol are more prone to burning with these IPL devices. Suggest double-checking.Y'probably know by now that this thing has an adjustable intensity(ouch) level ranging 1-5. And if you use it on an area with no hairs--or one hair-- it's completely painless, just a touch warm. Here are some of my results:- Hands, Arms, Fingers, Upper legs - Awesome. Virtually ZERO sting on the first treatment at the max intensity level 5. The hair never grew back after the first round. Amazing, as I've fretted about my moose knuckles since middle school.- Toes and Feet - Stung a teensy bit, also maxed out at level 5, hair growth halted about 95% after the first treatment. The rest came back as wimpy stubble.- Lower Legs - The hair is thick and numerous here, so this STUNG on level 1-3 on first treatment. Results were good though! somewhere about 30-50% of the hair fell out over the following 2 weeks.-At the end of two weeks was time for Lower Legs Session 2 - this time applied a 5% Lidocaine cream ("Numb Master" purchased here) multiple times over the course of an hour before treatment, with saran wrap technique. Highly recommended... It still hurt, but level 5 intensity was less painful than un-numbed level 1.- Face - I got a tan from going outside after Treatment 1, so I need to wait longer before attempting second round. This stung more than expected but I could manage level 3 without any numbing cream. Upper lip, chin, and sideburns are completely hairless so far, even after two weeks.- Armpit - Ouch! yep the hair is thick and follicles are bunched together in weird places, so it stings like hell. 1st treatment on intensity level 2 resulted in ~30% hair fallout. Used lidocaine on Treatment #2 and could handle max level 5.- Bikini - Treated the leg crease and the entire "dump" area. Hair is thickest on my body here, it freaking hurts on level 1. But the stubble fell out like crazy after a week (more than 50%!), and I had chemo-looking bald patches 👍. Lidocaine cream definitely helped survive through the second session at level 5. Don't expect much to come back.- The Beaver - My "complexion" is rather dark down there (think medium-roast coffee bean / cowboy boot). So, it totally fails the skin tone test. I went ahead and spot treated ANYWAY, carefully, on level 1. It didn't cause any burns so I went ahead with it and treated all the inner and outer bits, no issue! It does sting a little, but far less than treating the bikini or armpits. Lidocaine cream is a must.Disclaimer:1. 5% Lidocaine is STRONG and can produce a narcotic effect as it's absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. Don't treat more than one body part at a time. ...Or do, and strap in for a good/bad time.Take into consideration that the cream's effect might be diminished if you regularly take pain medication.2. DisgracedPuppy7 did NOT tell you to use the iLight on any area of your body that failed the skin tone checker. So, blast your cornhole at your own risk, don't yell at me for getting your dark butt burnt.Get it! Have fun!
