Wimberley F-4 Old Style Wimberley Head Flash Bracket - Made in USA

Item is of high quality, built to last. Extremely flexible yet sturdy when all the knobs are tightened. Fits my Nikon Speedlight w. remote cable perfectly. I had to purchase an Arca-Swiss compatible base plate in order to attach the bracket to my camera or my 200mm macro lens. This accessory was not expensive. Another plus: when all the joints are loosened, the bracket can be folded into a fairly compact arrangement that doesn't take up much room in my camera case. I've tested it at home but not in the field. I expect it will hold up very well under rough conditions. I may update this review when I've had more time to play with the F-2. For now, I'm a satisfied customer.Update: I've used this bracket in the field a few times. It's very easy to use, flexible and sturdy. It's also rather heavy. My usual arrangement is to attach the tripod to the 200mm lens and the F-2 to the camera. When the F-2 is extended, it seems to exert a lot of leverage on the base plate and the attachment hole on the bottom of the camera. Sometimes the plate rotates a bit when I adjust the bracket, despite being screwed on tightly. I think this can be avoided by loosening the F-2 segments fully before moving them. My usual method is to leave a bit of tension on the joints, with the slight friction helping me to make smaller adjustments. Looser will probably be better.The combination of camera, big lens, bracket and flash is pretty heavy. I did not enjoy shooting offhand with it, though I've seen online how other people use it this way. So far, I prefer supporting it with a tripod or monopod.Neither of these issues is a show-stopper. The F-2 is still the best bracket for my purposes.

The way the bracket installs is great, but the actual movement of the ball heads at the pivot points is movement limited. Also, even with a normal speed light attached and flash box, it's almost too much weight for the joints. It gets the job done, but I imagine there are better fixes for a macro light extension.

My purpose when I purchased this bracket was to buy once and not go through a bunch of different options and spend more in the long run. I believe it is overpriced, but I haven't seen an alternative and it offers a lot of flexibility.The bracket is easy to maneuver and can be positioned in many different variations. I like that it has an arca Swiss clamp included, making it easy to attach to the tripod collar on my lens. (You could also attach on camera, but would want to purchase a perpendicular plate.). The item is well built and can be tightened down enough to prevent creep with my Yongnuo 560 ii and lumiquest Softbox iii. If you want to keep it simple and plan to do off camera flash for macro, I would recommend taking a look at this product.

Nikon D7200 w/105mm Macro and SB-700 flash.Bracket is sturdy and versatile. I use it to orient my flash when shooting macro. Probably a must have for hand held macro.You can really feel the quality.Note that you do need to own a Mounting plate, which you should have if you own a tripod.

Works great. sturdy. Does the job. I think it is overpriced for what it is, but there aren't many other options on the market. The only other similar item I could find was less $$, but not as adjustable.

Wimberley products are first rate. This flash bracket is a perfect addition to the gimbal head, and I know use it as my primary flash bracket for general speedlight use. There really is nothing better.
