First off the image quality field of view and amplification are excellent.Problem 1: these do not have adjustable interpupillary distance, you cannot adjust the distance between the tubes to the distance of your eyes, like on any other binocular. Either you are at 64mm median eye to eye distance or you look into the tube off-center and loose field of view.Problem 2The first one I ordered had contamination and particles, small hairs in the field of view visible. I was not expecting that on +$7000 device.Problem 3The replacement I got had a malfunctioning on/off button. You could only turn it on after removing the batteries an re-inserting the.

I recently had an intruder in my basement while I had a project going. I used these to pinpoint the unwelcome visitors location after I had killed all the lights and they worked fine but unfortunately I was unable to stop the intruder due to a audible reveal that allowed her to get the jump on me. It wasn’t necessarily the fault of the glasses but they didn’t seem to help at that point either.

My reference for comparison was Gen I night vision and there is absolutely a world of difference. These make any of 3 different Gen I night vision products I've used seem like children't toys in comparison. Depth perception is reasonable enough to walk around on relatively uneven terain without tripping, though I've not done any running in them. Clarity is impressive. Light amplification is amazing compared to Gen I. I was way more impressed with this product than I expected to be. -1 star for price and relatively weak IR light built on (though it's not realley needed in any outdoor setting because of impressive light amplification.)

Can not see underwater very far and keep getting water in my eyes. Nowhere to attach snorkel. Would not recommend for diving.

I was recently hired by the notorious Joey "MAD DOG" Runella to perform a hit at the local vegan slaughter house. The guy who runs it was killing red leaf lettuce, which is the Joey's job on the east side and no body, I mean NO BODY can mess with Mad Dog Runella's red leaf lettuce. So Joey gave me an extra 8k to get these sweet puppies. Momma MIA!! These things work great! Let's just just say red leaf lettuce killin is back in the proper hands and the west side wise guys are back to romaine after their boss went to sleep with the fishes...5 STARS, highly recommend!

VERY Expensive (couldn't find better price but i bought in2013) but state of the art, super cool.. i have a Gen 1 as well, big difference. Only 4 stars because the head mount is of poor quality, difficult to adjust, chin strap worse than useless i.e.hands free operation not as hands free as should be!

Even compared to the Gen 3, this Gen 4 is a huge leap in clarity and light intensification.Even with the IR illumination off and lens caps on in moonless starlight you can see just about everything!This is virtual day light at night.Now the down sides;This was designed for military use, the controls are extremely rough edged and cumbersome and looks like it was put together by engineers who couldn't even build legos.The physical head mount strap is decent, but the mount that attaches to the helmet or head strap needs major work at the integration point. The mount on the goggle unit itself needs major work in design.You can't adjust the interpupulary distance between eyes and the focus knob on each tube is too easy to bump and loose focus.A lot has to be desired in making the unit more comfortable to hold and use for the civilian sector, if one choses to use it without the head mount. No places to attach a neck strap.
