Happiness is marrying your nest friend
This book is so fun and entertaining to read. I identified with Trudy in so many ways. And I loved the tough love she developed after all she went through with her family members.Although I give this book five stars, I wanted to hear more about the activities and future plans for Trudy and Billy Lee Tucker. But this story is still 5 stars with hilarious Comedy all throughout.

Funny, inspiring, and life affirming.
A beautifully written story of female independence after heartache and finding new love, with humor and humility. Easy read for a dreary Sunday afternoon.

Family
You can pick your friends but not your family but family always matters. Life is about relationships, every day occurrences, slugs and love.

a happy story…
Really liked it. With the exception of the over the top mentions of the antebellum bed and breakfast. Questionable use of the word ‘branded’ within the same chapter no less. Not a Southerner, but not an alarmist either. Just one comparison to ‘Gone with the Wind’ would have been sufficient. Quoting the maid. Way too much. Seemed almost racist. Made me uncomfortable.

Totally loved it!
What can I say? I have loved every one of Carolyn Browns books, and this one is no exception. She has a way to bring out every emotion you've ever had, and even some that you even didn't know you had. She has a way of taking a terrible situation and turning it around into something that will have you rolling on the floor. Her female characters are always strong willed, and I like strong willed people like that it my stories. When Trudy is in the bathroom stall trying to get herself put back together, she overhears her two cousins talking about how naive she is. After all; she had no clue about her husband's many affairs, or how her daughter ran away to Vegas to get married. By the time they left the bathroom, Trudy wanted to just roll into a ball and disappear. But she didn't. She held her head high and went on, but while she put on a good show for appearances sake, all the while her poor heart was shattering. She couldn't bring herself to eat, which in itself was very unusual, because that's what she was always good at. She decided to go wait in the rectory, in order to pull herself together. That's where she runs into Billy Lee, aka "The Town's Odd Ball". But it was Billy Lee who held her and let her cry, and it was Billy Lee that encouraged her to go on to do what she had to do, in order to get her life back again. And it was Billy Lee who stood by her side through all of it!Trudy didn't waste her time feeling sorry for herself for very long. Oh no...she decided to stop feeling sorry for herself, and to go out and get even with all those people who had done her wrong, starting with that lying, cheating bastard of a husband of hers, and boy did she ever! LOL! By the time the day was over, she hit him where it would hurt the most. She might not of taken anything out of the house, but she did trash his clothes before she left, and she'd emptied both of their joint checking accounts, too. LOL!!! Boy...that part of the story had me rolling on the floor, as well as the time he demanded getting her car back since it was in his name. Boy....she did a real number on that baby before turning it over to him, too! Hahaha!Through the next few months working with Billy on remodeling her Aunts house, she learned there was much more to Billy than anyone ever knew. Much, much more. Through it all, Billy Lee was the one that stood by her side, when everyone else had walked away and deemed her a crazy woman.Would I recommend this book? You better bet I would, in a heart beat!

Carolyn Brown is the best
This author is the best at making you feel deep down all the emotions her characters go through. The highs and the lows, the laughter, the sorrow and yes, the anger. This is because she writes about real life. Every character in her book, you can say: That sounds like what someone you know would do or I’ve heard my aunt say the same thing. Her words paint a picture, so you can visualize every scene. It’s a very entertaining read and a great escape!

A true love story
This book surprised me and didn't surprise me. I love the gumption that Trudy showed to those who had "wronged" her, and the forgiveness she gave as well. I knew from the beginning that she would wind up with who she did, but his steadfast, unending love was simply the best! This was one of the BEST love stories I have ever read, and I highly recommend it!

Excellent Read
Another great book from Carolyn Brown, I have read many of her books and am never disappointed. She paints a brilliant picture of the locations, the characters and the story lines. I always feel as if I get to know her characters and they almost become friends. They take you on a journey with them through the pages of her book. Again, this book is about strong female women who rise above their weaknesses. This book was well written, thoughtful and sensitive.

A Very Good Read.
If only most of my Kindle books were as good as this one I'd be very happy. A big "Thank you" to Trudy, Billy Lee, and even Crystal, now that she has succeeded in becoming a nice person. You have certainly added to 'life's little pleasures' And a huge hug to Carolyn Brown for bringing her characters to life. You'll have to forgo a kiss since it took nearly all of the book before Trudy got one!!

Enjoyable but unoriginal
An easy to read novel about a woman who discovers a her life is a sham. The problem is that the storyline is so full of feel good clichés - fat woman gets thin, poverty turns to riches, loser turns winner - that it is somewhat boring.

Moments of pleasure
Some of the writing is thoughtful, sensitive and creative, eliciting emotion, but other parts are blunt & hurried. The flow between the two doesn’t work for me. Reasonable story if far fetched. Holiday read.

Another Winner
I've come to the conclusion that I will read anything Carolyn Brown writes. From a very unpromising start (for the protagonist), this one burgeons and blossoms into an absolute triumph. And no, I'm not giving anything away: just read it.
