This is a killer pedal.
The woolly mammoth is such a unique pedal has an amazing amount of low end almost synth like works great for some most hate it. I find that the woolly is something to never look back from it’s something you can always find use. With that being said. The zvex Version is incredible. But I’ve always have complaints. First the pedal it’s self a long wise with everything to power it and plug in on the side getting it to sit right on the board is annoying. This pedal comes out and at least has a power jack on the top. Bought one of these in 2018 put it up against the real deal. Yes it sounds just like it 100% ended up selling the real one and keep this learned how to switch the jacks up and now all my issues are done.

Dead on arrival
Attempted to use with different power sources, cables, et cetera. The elephant’s eyes never lit, and there was no sound.

GREAT WITH SYNTHS!!!!!
Forget using this with a bass or guitar, I went and plugged in my analog synth (Arturia MiniBrute) and was AMAZED by how GREAT it sounded!!! These things are AWESOME with any square wave or saw wave oscillating signal, just friggin' AWEsome! I bought mine 5 months ago, tried it for a week, didn't think much of it. Then about 3 days ago I tried putting my synth thru it and SHA-ZAM, was I amazed at how BITCHIN' this thing sounded!!!! Get it, it's just as squirrelly as the Zvex, just in a slightly different way. I'm a big Zvex fan, got the Fuzz Factory and the Box of Metal, and about 2 or 3 others. But this thing??? LOVE IT!!!!

Versatile Fuzz Tones
Awesome pedal, super versatile fuzz for bass, guitar, and anything else!

More functional than other Little Bear pedals that I have ordered
Of the three Little Bear products I've ordered, this has been the best built. Still, there were some quirks like the battery clip being bypassed when the output (not input like other pedals) jack is unplugged. Also, the tonality of the MB1 that I received seems different than YouTube video demos, i.e., way more bass and far less midrange. It does sound marginally better with bass and baritone guitars, but isn't really that usable of a fuzz for me overall.

Opened, tried, returned immediately.
This thing sucks. Especially on bass. The knobs barely change the parameters making it impossible to dial in a good tone. It cut the low end so badly and the “fuzz” sounds more like a shrill static. I was hopeful, but should have known better at this price point. I don’t know if it’s a faithful clone to the Zvex Wooly Mammoth, but if it is, that pedal must suck too.If you’re looking for a dependable and affordable fuzz, just buy a Big Muff and save yourself the hassle.

Awesome clone of the Zvex Woolly Mammoth.
Typically, clones of currently in-production gear can be considered bad form, but honestly I think this pedal is an exception. The reason for this being is that the "real version" is 350+ dollars. The Woolly Mammoth is, essentially a very simple pedal that is a slightly modified Fuzz Face - and a silicone transitor Fuzz Face, at that. DIYers can tell yiu, the WM is one of the simplest DIY projects out there. So honestly, there is nothing to really justify such an exorbitant price. You could find a vintage Superfuzz for close to the same price. If you REALLY want to get a real Zvex, I would suggest getting a Mastotron, as it is based on the WM but does more things and has a much wider range of tones, and sells for about a 3rd of the price of a WM.As for the BS1. I won one on ebay, and honestly I can't tell a huge difference from the real thing. Which makes sense, because it really isn't that hard to clone the real thing. This pedal sounds GREAT. I use it on guitar instead of bass, and it is one of the best sounding fuzz pedals I have (and I have quite a few as I collect them). As is to be expected, the low end on this thing is just massive. It really retains so much low end, whereas much of that low end will be cut out with more typical fuzz pedals. The real secret weapon on this pedal is the "pinch" knob, which controls the pulse width of the waveform, which is a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo, but really has a cool effect. From what I understand, the pinch knob on the BS1 is reversed from how it is on the WM.On the BS1, the pinch knob turned all the way to the right makes a really open, massive fuzz sound that would probably be great for something like doom metal.Turned all the way to the left, the fuzz tone gets very compressed, splatty, broken, and really dirty. This sound would be great for garage rock, punk, and more extreme indie styles. Personally, I keep the knob all the way to the left, for the full on compressed, broken, splatty sound. While it sounds good on other settings, that one particular setting is just so perfect and unique from most of the other fuzz pedals I have.Jack White famously used this pedal on the Icky Trump album (and, in particular, the song Icky Thump) and also on the James Bond song he did with Alicia Keys. If you want to hear a good example of what this pedal sounds like on the full-on compressed, splatty setting, listen to the intro to the Quantum of Solace theme. Sounds pretty sweet, right? Well, that's what this pedal sounds like.So far, I haven't found any faults in the build quality. It is very sturdy, the knobs seem high quality, and the footswitch seems about the same as every other fuzz I have. No complaints.I haven't ordered from this particular company on amazon, but I can definitely say that this particular pedal is worth the 50 bucks.I actually scored it for 10+ shipping from China on ebay, but such a good deal may be kind of hard to replicate. 50 bucks is definitely reasonable for such a good clone of a 350 dollar Zvex pedal.
