The retired DGP of India who has served in different states has articulately explained the movement & its impact. The author has divided Naxal movement into 3 phases 1st phase up to Mazumdar, second phase up from 1975 to 1991 & recent 3rd phase since 2004. The Maoists have established their roots in 118 districts & running parallel administrations. Indian Government has admitted that it needs to be tackled tactfully, apart from encounters & arms. Indian governments have passed various reforms to counter socio-economic reasons for the movement but Poverty, exploitation & income inequality are still the biggest cause for the present unrest in the tribal areas the Indian constitution protects the rights of Indian tribes who re frequently displaced from their lands. Recently laws have been passed to protect their rights. Prakash Singh has covered in details & told the story of these modern guerilla warriors & their rise & fall. Not As Per Expectation
Don't expect more from this. Most of the encounter incidents are mentioned, which was not correct enough to describe so much. Please check for another book if you want to know about Naxalite movement.
