Messy but amazing results
I had a thematic hair event a few months ago. I accidentally used aPotent toning shampoo while visiting family and the shampoo/condition stripped my natural ginger hair. I always use a tinted shampoo to give my hair a bit deeper red so I am not sure if this had something to do with why it did such a harsh color pull but it has been a pain. For the past few months I have been trying to get the bottom of my hair back toMatching my roots & have been unsuccessful. But this henna has done the trick.Firstly my package did not come with a cap or gloves like other people said that theirs did so be prepared to have those at home. I was super excited to try my henna as soon as I got in the mail and I was frantically looking for gloves in my house because I didn't want to have to go to the store but I still wanted to do my hair the day I got it.I used the strawberry blonde color- 4oz with 2 cups water, 1 egg, 2 tbsp olive oil & 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar. I left the mixture on about 45 minutes and the color turned out great. Almost a perfect match to the top layers on my hair. The process of henna is SO DIFFERENT than boxed dyes so if this is your first time using henna do you research. I know how messy and time consuming it is so I prepared.Adding henna to your hair event is like trying to pull sand mixed with mud through your hair. It is goopy and hard and take some work. I'd say about 20 minutes just to get an even application. Before I wrapped my hair up I immediately started wiping splatters and threw everything I used like towels, wash clothes, the sure I was wearing and the rug I was setting on and hot water in the washer. I wanted to avoid as much training as possible and believe me this stuff will stain your countertops quick. The photos I show posted about 10 minutes after I had put the mixture in my hair and then after I put cellophane on excuse the fact that I only had pink clean wrap.DO NOT TRY TO LEAN UNDER THE FAUCET TOGET THIS OUT, ITWILL TAKE SO LONG AND YOU WILL HURT YOUR NECK. Washing out the henna is even more work. I knew that this could take a long time so I made sure my husband was home to watch the kids so I could stay I. The shower for a while. I washed just with water first as much of mixture as I could- then a 2in1 shampoo and condition (let it set about 5 minutes and rinsed)- then just a shampoo (let it set about 5 minutes and rinsed)- then a hair conditioning mask (let it set about 5 minutes and rinsed)- then a shampoo again and my regular conditioner again. It is a job! And while in the shower I always was prepared with some cleaning products to clean up as my shampoo and condition set because this gets messy!I am super pleased with the color and henna is awesome if you are prepared for extra work. To me saving my hair from the damage of a regular dye is worth it.

Doesn't make your hair fall out.
This is the best product of its kind I have ever used. It is 100% botanical, it does not stink or burn the way so many hair dyes do, even the health food brands. However, the best part is that it is the only thing I have found that does not damage my hair in any way. Anything that contains "developer" or uses a two part process makes my hair fall out, and I mean really fall out in clumps. This does not hurt my hair at all, and it even seems to have a slight conditioning effect. Or am I just imagining that because I love that my hair is not gray anymore?? The color charts do not show how the colors come out on gray or white hair, but it does work on my hair which is really quite gray. This is not called a permanent dye, but temporary dye makes you think it is going to wash out the first time you shampoo, and it doesn't. I have to recolor it about once a month. However it isn't difficult to do. I like the fact that the color washes out slowly because after the first or second shampoo my hair starts to look more natural because it does not wash out evenly, but leaves the strands slightly variegated, like my natural color was. It looks so believable that sometimes almost forget that my hair is dyed. However, because it washes out so slowly it is easy to be like the frog in the kettle that doesn't notice the water getting hotter and hotter. I tend to not notice as the dye diminishes by small degrees, and I have to watch carefully or I let it get too gray

Strawberry Blonde
Easy to mix and apply. Made mair hair super soft. I ordered the Strawberry Blonde Henna it made my hair very orange(not the color I was hoping for) but I followed the instructions to remove the henna by washing my hair with dish soap a few hours after I applied the dye, and now on the 4th day it has faded enough so its not orange anymore. I think I will try a different shade next time. I wish they had more pictures for examples of the colors. I used raspberry tea in the mixture like it recommended for red tones. The mixture smells like wet alfalfa. Not stinky like so many described.

Grainy Texture Difficult to Apply
Color: I applied the Rainbow Research blonde "henna" to my sister's hair yesterday. The first picture is before, and the second is 24 hours after. As you can see, it just slightly tinted her dirty blonde hair to a dirty yellow. I did use roobois tea for a slight red tint. She was hoping for golden tones, which was not accomplished, but we didn't know how much difference blonde "henna" would make on dirty blonde hair. Satisfaction: 3/5.Conditioning effect: her hair is smoother and more manageable. Satisfaction: 5/5Application: I used Light Mountain henna (light red) on my hair 4 weeks ago, so I am comparing the Rainbow Research application to that. Light Mountain is an exponentially better product when it comes to this. RR is absolutely terrible. RR was super grainy and difficult to apply due to graininess. I added a tablespoon of yogurt to try to get a better, creamier consistency, but it was still bad. Because of the poor texture, I barely had enough mixture to spread over my sister's hair. Satisfaction: 0/5Conclusion: I definitely will not be purchasing Rainbow Research henna again, in any color, due to the grainy texture and poor application.

Does not cover grays.
I've tried this Henna color twice now. The first time I left it on for 2 hours, and 4 hours the second time. I cannot get it to cover my grays, which is the only reason I color my hair in the first place. I don't think I'll be purchasing again.
