The lip makes it difficult to use
I did not realize those have a channel design, and not flat - that makes it very difficult to close the jar as they roll into the lid and get jumbled inside, instead of just being a seal. I do think they are too thick as well.

Overview:As described.Experience:Close, a bit larger than mason jar lids, really needs to be 2.75". Also not a flat gasket, it has an inner and outer ridge. They do work though just not perfectly so fine for simple storage but not so for food preservation. They do perfectly fit my blender base though.

rust free
purchased this to replace the standard mason jar lid because it keep rusting up. This silicon ring doesn't rust but you got to be sure you remove it to clean to prevent molding. I remove it every 2 days to clean to prevent mold from building. Anything is better than rust free.

Too thick for jar rings to hold
Never had a chance to use as no matter how/where I placed the seal the jar ring would not tighten down. The seal is too thick for the jar and ring threads to hold.

Yes, just insert the silicone ring gasket into an existing "white plastic cap".
Yes, you can re-purpose your existing (older) "white plastic caps" for a tighter seal of your regular mouth size mason jars.Kerry in San Francisco
