This is larger than most you will buy in the store. This is the highest quality hatchet available anywhere in the world. I have broken a number of cheap ones. This one lasts a lifetime unless it gets stolen.

Very good Hatchet but poor cover. Had to make my own leather sheath. It is very heavy hatchet compared to other hatchets. No need to apply force, splits with its weight. If you like big and bold, get it. If you are looking for backpack hatchet, don't buy this.

Like other reviewers have written, Amazon just tosses this in a box and calls it good. Mine broke through the box, but it arrived in acceptable condition. You should also buy a Helko Werk hatchet sheath when you order this. The included "sheath" is just for shipping. You should expect that the axe will not arrive in perfectly pristine condition.After sharpening, it's been a great little axe for smaller tasks. My other splitting axe is the 2500g OX 648, is too big for splitting smaller wood or kindling. This is not an axe for making fire sticks or something like that, it's a heavy little splitting axe. Use this for 8-in to 12-in wood at most. You can use this with one or two hands.

The Germans have finally caught up with the Chinese. I have recently purchased 3 Ochsenkopf axes/hatchets. One is decent after reworking the handle, the others are garbage. Even replacements were garbage. Head steel finish is poor, and they cannot even put a nice bevel on the back it. Poor grain on the handles, and not set properly. Not recommended.

Ich schickte sie leider wieder zurück, weil Beschreibung und Bild nicht gestimmt haben. Bestellt wurde eine kurze, gekommen ist eine lange. Und Axt Kopf sollte eine leichte Rundung haben. Eben Spalt Beil Ochsenkopf. Aber für eine Zweihand Axt Super Teil.

Sehr handlich nehme sie gerne her um auf 30cm gesägte und grob zerkleinerte Stücke zu Scheiten zu hacken sehr gut bin sehr zufrieden damit klare EmpfehlungUpdate : Seit 2½ Jahren begleitet mich dieser hilfreiche Helfer nun schon und leistet noch immer hervorragende ArbeitDas rotband plus ist die 35€ mehr wert da der Stiel nach wie vor keine Beschädigungen aufweist geschenkt hab ich dem beil nichts es musste und muss hart arbeiten und das geht mit Leichtigkeit. Die Farbe ist abgearbeitet die Schneide hat trotz mehrfachen steinvolltreffern keine Beschädigungen oder ausbräuche wer sich noch unsicher ist darf sich darauf verlassen das er nichts besseres bekommen kann um fertiggesägte Rollen zu zerfetzen auch die große 2500g Spaltfix mit rotband plus ist in meinem Besitz der große big ox und das ganzstahlbeil sowie eine sehr alte iltis europa begleiten mich bei der täglichen Holzarbeit und auch die große spaltfix hat schon einiges durch auch hier sind Schläge auf betonpflaster bis her ohne Schäden zu loben . Ich kann jedem empfehlen der sich fragt was er sich kaufen soll sich mit ochsenkopf rotband plus Werkzeugen einzudecken die Dinger sind einfach 110% Prozent würde auch 50 Sterne geben nach wie vor klare Kaufempfehlung 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Best German quality. Excellent made. Quality for many years of extensive use and work. Enjoy splitting wood!I would say comparable to the good Swedish brands, but half price of them. I like the massive steel protection for the (thick and stable) Hickory handle. Optimal form in your hands. Easy to hold. The red an yellow painting helps to find the axe (and not to step on it!) even if there is a lot of wood and tools laying around at the ground. You might get cheaper ones at the big stores, but after achieving one - from my experience - you will be happy with that tool for many years and will enjoy every day you take it anew. Once you hold it in your hand, you'll know, that you have nothing to regret regarding buying this tool.
