Granger's Footwear Repel is a spray-on waterproofing treatment designed to add a water-repellent finish to all types of footwear. Footwear is often the most hardworking element of your outdoor gear – and it needs to be regularly maintained as a result. Unfortunately, the mud, muck, dirt, and dust acquired during an adventure or hike can have a detrimental effect on your footwear’s performance, and while cleaning your boots might help, even the most rugged pair of boots will eventually need a fresh water-repellent treatment. Granger's Footwear Repel has been designed to help prolong the life of your boots by restoring their water-repellent finish and protecting them from rain, stains, and spillages. Safe to use on all types of footwear – including those made from leather, suede, nubuck, and fabric – this product protects without adversely affecting the breathability of shoes / boots. Granger's Footwear Repel is perfect for use on all types of footwear, and is perfect for restoring the water-repellent finish found on boots with Gore-Tex and eVent membranes. 12

Stuff works well, goes a long way.
After dropping loads of cash on aerosols that hardly do more than one pair of shoes, I am sold on Grangers. It really works; water beads up and runs right off.I've treated two pair suede cowboy boots, two pair suede ankle boots, and two suede hats. There's still probably around a fifth of a bottle, enough to treat another item.Follow directions; spray your article with water first to get it damp. Do the whole article, even the shaft of boots to avoid color differences. Nothing changed color, except some new tan boots that had been kind of mottled turned more uniform tan. But I noticed spots, either waterproofer or water overspray, on the shafts where I did not treat, so do the whole boot. Also, shake well. I noticed some white specks on the dark suede after drying, some sort of residue, looked kinda like fine dandruff, but it does brush right off.

Recommended.
I have a $200 pair of boots and this was the stuff the manufacturer recommended.

Always works
This is great for fabric and leather hiking boots. Follow the directions, the boots must be wet when you apply. I do two coats, sometimes a third on the toe of the boot. Wish it was a little cheaper, but appreciate that it’s better for the environment than spray cans.

Good product - bad package.
I really like this product. However, it arrived damaged. I thought at first the csp was just loose. Unfortunately the spray pump handle was cracked. Leaked all over inside of package. Leaked when I tried to use it. Had to transfer remaining contents to another spray bottle. Other items shipped in same box were all okay.

Leaking
Product arrived in working condition but is leaking from the nozzle. Set to OFF by default and still leaking. Seems like a manufacturing issue in the bottle design, but it may just have been damaged during the shipping process. reviews on this product if you wish to know how others received their products. Garbage Product!
Terrible product and useless for leather and material. I spent 22 years in the military outdoors on deployments in some of the nastiest places in the world. Camp dry and scotch guard or snow seal is much better and works in the harshest of environments. Run from this garbage product!

The best proofer for Gortex I've found yet
I've used this a few times now. Anyone with Gortex walking boots knows that despite the claims, Gortex is nearly impossible to waterproof (these are good quality Salomon boots). I had been using the brand leader Nikwax and been getting nowhere. Over years I've tried various methods and couldn't get dry feet. I've also tried the very chemically proofing sprays with no success.I came across this in an outdoor shop and let the assistant con me into it, and to my surprise it worked far more effectively than Nikwax. The system I use is to clean off the boot, make sure the surface is damp and then spray. I used a sponge to rub the fluid in and since then we've had a number of walks with both mud and long wet grass and socks have survived.

It worked!
I used it on two pairs of waterproof walking shoes (with the fabric mesh upper) that had lost their waterproofing quality and were letting water in when I walked through wet grass. It was tricky to apply. I felt that the product was just running off the shoe material rather than getting absorbed. But I followed the instructions and tested the shoes and sure enough, it is waterproof and walking through wet grass my socks stay dry!

Didn’t work for me
I treated some Mountain Warehouse boots before a very wet walk. The boots have a label that reads “Field Waterproof Vibram Boot” and are nubuck rather than polished leather. Either the boots or the spray proved unfit for purpose and my socks and feet were soaking at about the half way point in the walk. The rain was quite exceptional. Because I can’t be sure whether the boots or the spray or both were not up to heavy rain, I’ve given two stars to give benefit of doubt. Maybe “Field Waterproof” means something other than “waterproof” and I won’t use the boots in wet weather again.

Pretty Disapointing
I bought this to waterproof a pair of walking shoes or at least make them more water-resistant than they were. After all, that is one of the manufacturer's claims for usage. This product failed miserably despite applying several coats. The shoes in question were themselves bought from Amazon, supposedly waterproof but definitely not, and had been used for probably only half a dozen or so times when I applied this product. My guess is that this stuff is only really ever going to help add extra protection to new or nearly new shoes/boots/clothing, definitely not recommended for much else.

Great for nubuck walking shoes
I have nubuck walking shoes and was recommended this at our local outdoor clothing wear outlet, so it definitely works and glad to know can order it online. Just need to clean any excess dirt off the shoes first, wipe with a damp cloth no need to wait until dry, and then spray repel spray on and wipe any excess off and let dry. Takes no time at all and spray so much easier than the usual sponge applicator on other makes. Quality product
