Therefore, I installed a couple of speakers to drywall using zinc drywall anchors, and it worked just fine for me. I used #6 metal anchors with the screws provided by SVS (which are washer head, necessary). These speakers installed on a wall will not accommodate banana plugs, unless they are very small, I used a bare wire connection, which worked great. The bare wire holes will accept 10 or 12 gauge speaker wire with no problem. I used a socket wrench (gently) to get them nice and tight. The cosmetics for the black ash (actually vinyl) are good enough. The black ash version doesn't show fingerprints or other signs of handling. The surfaces have some texture, which is helpful when mounting. I've seen the SVS glossy black/white finishes, they are nicer, but the black ash vinyl has a fine, neutral appearance. Along with the speakers, you also get first class customer technical support. I pummeled SVS with numerous questions, and always received polite, and helpful responses, usually within one day of my email. These are fine supplemental speakers for Atmos height and back surrounds. They are very efficient and will not stress an AVR. Matching them to larger speakers is simple, either using software or making a manual adjustment by ear (I did both). The mounting hardware is a simple, intelligent design. The instructions enclosed are great, and SVS customer service is exemplary. These speakers are, in my opinion, a great value. They upgraded my 5.1 system to an ATMOS 5.1.2 configuration (Onkyo RZ840 AVR). It was an easy upgrade and sounds great. Using a HTPC and the Win10 Dolby app you can really show off the ATMOS effects. In day to day use when paired with a Nvidia Shield (2019) tube Netflix, Prime and Plex all deliver ATMOS audio when the source supports it. I'm glad I bought these capable speakers as even without an ATMOS source, various AVR settings can utilize them in a 7.1 configuration without these speakers reducing the quality of the other speakers. Less capable speakers would not be able to maintain that level of quality. The mounting brackets hold the speakers well but putting the speakers onto the bracket properly was tricky and one speaker actually fell off but I luckily caught it. The issue was that the bracket is so close to the wall so it is hard to see the brackets mounting holes especially when the speakers is blocking the light. However, the speakers come with a special wall mounting bracket that holds them a bit away from the wall so that the port has enough clearance (about 1/2 to 1 inch) to allow it to breath so that it still operates essentially according to specification as far as the frequency response curve is concerned. If you don't use the special bracket and place the speaker right up against the wall with no clearance fully covering the port, the tendency would be to raise the lower cut off frequency of the speaker somewhat. In that case the treble and midrange won't be affected, but the base frequencies may be somewhat reduced. Also, depending on resonances, it may start to sound a bit muddy in the high upper base and it may transmit more vibrations to the wall itself which might also cause undesirable sound characteristics. When I mounted my speakers I actually did not use the supplied wall bracket but made my own customized wall shelf that Victorian style woodwork that accomplishes the same thing (keeps it out about an inch from the wall) but also has a very ornate look consistent for the architecture of the listening room where my home theater is. These speakers work great. I'm very happy with them. Just make sure you use the bracket to keep it out a bit from the wall. **Q: Are thes sold individually or as a pair?** A: Pair here on Amazon. Though on SVS website you can buy them individually. On SVS website they do sometimes have individual ones that were returned as a customer did not care for them or factory blemished speakers with a slight scratch. The speakers that were returned are fully checked out, tested and you get the original factory 2 year warranty and a nice discount too. I highly recommend SVS products. I use the Prime Elevation speakers as rear backs in my 7.1 set up.
