This 2GB RAM works for my Dell Inspiron Mini 1018
This 2GB RAM works for my Dell Inspiron Mini 1018.Not too difficult for me to replace the original 1GB RAM, thanks to some How-To videos on YouTube. Noticeable increase in speed when done. Not bad for a netbook that I had purchased back in 2011. Windows 7 Starter and 250GB hard drive and all.Two big reasons why I still try to keep this Dell 1018 netbook running and in pristine condition are the amazingly sharp images and display, and the excellent keyboard. It's a cool tool. Some other things that I have done this year (2016) to help increase the speed of this netbook, which had slowed down considerably the last couple of years:I restored the 1018 to the factory’s original settings when it was brand new out of the box in 2011.To lighten the memory hogging, I jettisoned the Dell dock and other deadweight programs that I didn't need.I uninstalled McAfee Anti-Virus and downloaded the free Microsoft Security Essentials.I downloaded the latest version of Google Chrome browser for this little laptop because Internet Explorer 8 was slowing things down too much. I would have uninstalled Internet Explorer 8 but the 1018 does not give me this option.I had done a fair amount of research on the Internet, and I learned to disable all the unnecessary Chrome extensions and Chrome applications that I was not using.I also enabled several Chrome flags which were supposed to speed things up, and that seemed to work. And, certainly, the C: disk clean-up and defragmentation that you would normally do.The Dell 1018 is not a notebook, so don’t expect it to perform like your work computer. It is a netbook, designed for surfing the Internet and good for email and social media. Not meant for complicated work projects or audio-visual projects.Hope this review helps someone who owns a Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 and who has been wondering if this particular 2GB RAM memory module would work on this netbook. A big YES.

It is good to be alive
I purchased the Crucial 2GB Single DDR3 Memory Module to upgrade an old laptop from 2GB to 4GB. I looked forward to keeping this old laptop in service, but little did I know the importance this memory module would ultimately have in my life.A week after installing the Crucial 2GB Single DDR3 Memory Module I caught a ride on an old fishing boat traversing the Mediterranean Sea. It was a small boat, but was all I could arrange passage on since it was the season of storms. Halfway through the crossing, we were hit by strong weather. As the old wooden boat pitched and rolled, it became quite apparent that the vessel was in trouble. The boat creaked and snapped as wave after wave began to strain it beyond reason. Suddenly there was a loud "pop," and a small section in the keel of the boat simply gave way. With the sea rushing in, we began bailing water furiously in an attempt to keep the vessel afloat. Unfortunately, the only bailing tools at our disposal were two old cardboard Dixie cups, one of which had a hole in it the size of a small drachma. I soon realized that our paltry bailing efforts were insufficient to stem the inrushing sea. As I surveyed our dire situation, I noticed that the break in the keel structure appeared to be in the shape and size of the Crucial 2GB Single DDR3 Memory Module.Quickly removing the memory module from my laptop, I pressed it into the hole in the keel and found that it fit perfectly, halting the inflow from the sea. We completed our crossing without further problems, and upon exiting the craft I removed the Crucial 2GB Single DDR3 Memory Module from the hole it had plugged, dried it off, and installed it once again in my laptop. It still worked perfectly. It is good to be alive, and it is good to have another 2GB of memory in my laptop.

It Worked!
I got 2 gb new and installed them into a Gigabit Brix Ultra Compact PC kit (which was only missing the hard drive and the RAM) along with a solid state drive. The replacement RAM worked very well. The computer booted up and was functional. I was running the computer on Linux Mint OS 17. This OS recognized the RAM with no trouble.I would like to add, too, that Crucial RAM has worked well for me. It seems that it has worked every time I have gotten them for a project. The other RAM has usually worked too, but not always and not as consistently. It just might be good luck, but Crucial has earned a good rep for me because I have not had to return any of them back. To be fair, Gigabit was helpful in having a list of RAM that they recommended to try on their computer and this RAM was on the list, so I felt the odds were very high that it was going to work and it did!

NOT for the Intel NUC6CAYS
This Crucial PN CT25664BF160B does NOT have the high density memory module construction required for the Intel NUC6CAYS with Celeron J3455 processor. It will give an unsupported memory error at startup. I did not actually try this as I fortunately discovered information on this prior to trying install. I am giving three stars because of the confusing info and Amazon picturing a card with four memory modules when the actual part received had eight smaller modules indicating low density construction.

Great!
I recently received a computer from a family member who had passed. She only used it for basic browsing and web-based games. I was going to use it for similar tasks, but also to play World of Warcraft. I couldn't even get the program to load up. I bought this as a quick fix and it worked magic. With Amazon Prime, I got it in only two days! Just in time to install it before the actual user left town. Couldn't have asked for more. I also recommend using the Crucial website and their program to determine what RAM to buy and how much your computer can handle. I keep the program stored on an external harddrive so I can run it anytime I need without having to redownload.
