Throws spark very well once you remove black paint/coating. I use a interchangeable utility blade and these do not disappoint. A bit awkward to hold/use, but they are small intentionally. If you want ease of use, get a bigger farro rod. I used 1 out of the 6, coupled with some 550 survivor cord, to create a new pull tab on a edc pocket organizer and these worked great for that purpose. Small, compact, and works as it should. Will definitely buy again if needed.

Bit of a learning curve to strike such a small ferro rod especially when using a ceramic scraper. I made a necklace out of this and its so convenient. But like I said, its super short, I have scraped my fingers/knuckles hard enough to draw blood cause im trying to strike it like a full size rod. You get used to the smaller strikes though. I keep one on my neck at all times and attach a lanyard on the rest and put them in random places in case of emergency like my med kit, vehicle, s/o's house, etc.

Tons of sparks after the first couple licks to get through the coating. Bought these with the intent of making FireCord or Survivord Cord boot laces. Ended up using them on Slings and MFT stocks as well.

I bought these originally to make a few necklaces out of, combined with a ceramic striker. Every one I've made works very well, you just need to give it a little force. Tried it out on some dryer lint, and it lit instantly. You do need to be close to your material, as they don't shoot off as much spark as a big rod.After hearing about someone who managed to lose their ferro rod at the wrong time, it occurred to me these would be excellent to add to the bottom of your shoe laces, since you're unlikely to lose your shoes. One on each shoe or boot, just in case.

Perfect size for neck and wrist projects.
